One important question:
Why isn't Lamborghini added to the Audi sales, while Mini and RR sales are added to BMW sales? Lambo is 100% owned by Audi
Ask Audi AG.
They publish sales numbers for each brand separately (Audi, Seat, Lamborghini). And usually only the Audi sales numbers are prompt.
Only in yearly financial reports production & sales numbers are published as total number as well (Audi + Seat + Lamborghini).
The business relationships between separate subsidiary companies / brands within VAG are very complicated. Basically every company is quite independent yet somehow linked with another brand / company.
The latest grouping (when Audi "got" Lambo & Seat) was of purely administrative nature. So, it's still VAG's board of directors who decides about crucial Lambo & Seat moves. While operatively both companies are quite independent. I still have to found out what exactly is Audi's role in Lambo & Seat case - beside purely administrative one.
The question is, what will happen in the future. The rumor goes luxury brands (Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti) will be grouped in one entity, while the economy brands will form own entity as well (VW, Skoda, Seat).
Yet since Porsche is very active in VAG decision making everything could turn out differently though.
Mind that Audi AG is subsidiary of Volkswagen AG (VAG owning 99.7% of Audi AG).
And that Porsche AG owns 31% of VAG, and aiming to get another 20% (to total 51% of VAG shares).
A complicated system of company-within-company ... I doubt we are able to comprehend the entire situation.
