It seem like Lamborghini has failed miserably with their Superleggera. Nobody is crazy over it like with the F430 stradale or 997 GT2.
guess
I picked the lambo because it was very underrated from the start in my opinion. when Lambo released the Gallardo SE, then the Nera, everyone was like "***? where did the faster special edition lambos go?" many owners said the same. although the SE and Nera look A LOT nicer than the standard G, they are not any faster. however, Lamborghini listened and added hp and cut off 220 lbs off the car. I cant even bench press that much! yet they still have sat nav, awd etc.
why doesnt the Gallardo SL get hype? because most people in general still dont know what a Gallardo is, or a Murcielago. they might know Lamborghini but maybe 1 in 50 people would know their cars. think about it, how many people (including I) knew what Pagani was before playing Gran Turismo 3? I didnt, even though they had been around for a significant amount of time.
looking at the SL and back to what the Gallardo used to be, we can see a HUGE improvement. hp has gone up 40 since the original. carbon ceramic brakes (which also weigh less) were added. semi slicks are an option. 220 lbs was cut off.
the F430 LP/CS is getting more hype because there are no spacefillers between it and the normal F430. the Gallardo saw CC brakes, semi slicks, hp bumps over time, whereas Ferrari is shoving all their improvements into the F430 all at once. in the end the what the Gallardo SL has over the original is not inferior to what the F430 CS has over the normal F430.
Ferrari has estabilised the CS name with their one make F360 CS racing series, and people will be waiting with greater anticipation for the new F430 CS, however the Lambo SL is an unknown. From the outside it doesn't look like a hardcore light weight track version of the Gallardo. That carbon fiber rear wing made the car look very aftermarket.
Back on topic, the Lambo SL is a very nice car, but it has been overshadowed by the new M3, and the Audi A5/S5, and to some extend the Massa
