I understand your point NevadaJack: you're obviously a very passionate photographer, who does everything to make photos look even better, sharper, ... In this context, it would be a good idea to create separate theme-inspired competitions in which one can participate or not. This type of competition would be more objectif: photos could be judged on rational parameters, such as lighting, colour depth, framing, composition, etc.
However, I agree with Zonda that there would be less contestants. I think the big advantage of the current photo competitions is that they are easy accessible for everybody, making it much more fun to participate. I'm always eagerly waiting to see what kind of photos other members will be posting
. I know, the resulting competition is much more subjective, but
