I thought we could gather our knowledge and rumours of the forthcoming Pagani in this thread and discuss.

Unveiling date: March 2008
Supposed project codename: C9

Horacio said a few years ago that the next Pagani will have a more powerful Mercedes AMG engine, will be a 2 seater Coupe, better built and better quality than the Zonda, better performance and also lighter. Improved in everything pretty much. And not based on the Zonda at all.
Together with the launch of the new car Pagani will also open their new factory which will allow them to produce the car in larger numbers in order to please the American market. As this car will be fully legal in America. Also, it won't share a single peice with the Zonda.

Developement of the new car started in September 2006.

Nothing 100% though as we haven't seen anything yet.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

Will Mercedes supply them with a brand new even more bespoke V12? And wow if they can get the weight even lower than what it's currently at. Especially when the rumors suggest that it will be coming to the States, which means airbags and other safety features.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

Yeah, reducing the weight even further and making it US legal is a real feat. And according to Clubsport Pagani and AMG have signed til 2013. So most likely an AMG engine. But as Horacio as said that the next Pagani won't share a single part with the Zonda it's most likely not the same 7.3l engine.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

It'll be interesting to see what Pagani comes up with. I actually hope for a F430 Sized supercar, although I highly doubt that'll happen.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

No, it won't be a F430 sized car. Think we can be pretty sure of that.

Caiola influenced the Zonda R, so I wonder if he also has a finger in the next Pagani? Will be interesting to see. One thing is pretty certain though, he's most likely bought the first one:D

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

This is where Horacio is quite brilliant. He's creating a market which is guaranteed by customers who purchased Zonda's.

Trust me, Caiola wouldn't be the only customer who has influenced Pagani.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

cant wait cant wait cant FREAKIn wait..haha

it will most likely have an AMG engine..i heard something about Pagani using the new MB V12..so maybe that will happen..but who knows..

I would hope so, the M120 is over 15 years old. They will probably use a tuned version of the M275 65 engine.:D

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

Not sharing a single piece of the Zonda, does not mean that the engine will not be a Mercedes Benz AMG;) ...

Anyway, the car will be worldwide (US too) compatible, and yes, there will be a new facility, bigger than the actual, and production will almost double.

One thing i can say you is: the real countdown has started.

See you at Geneva 2008...

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

I didn't say that, only that it probobly isn't the same engine as the Zonda;)

You mentioned 850nm on FChat some time ago. Is that figure still relevant?

No. It should be lower than that. But not that far away.

There's only one thing i have to do, when i'll visit them again (which i will do this year for sure): to discover what's hidden under a black car cover...:D ;)
Something that can be anything.

Anything... But a Zonda.

Re: Discussion of the Forthcoming Pagani

SLR McLaren's supercharged V8 in the next Pagani supercar?

AMG put too much work into developing the engine for the Mercedes SLR McLaren for the mighty motor to be tossed aside when the ill-fated supercar is replaced by the SL65 Black Series. So what will become of the SLR's supercharged V8? An amateur spy video posted on YouTube might have the answer.

A couple of weeks ago we brought you news that Pagani had renewed its engine partnership with Mercedes AMG, but what we didn't know then was what powerplant the wizards in Affalterbach were planning for Pagani's next exotic supercar. In the spy video after the jump, you can see a developmental test mule running around near the Pagani workshop wearing the Zonda's body panels like a kid in his father's suit. It's conspicuously missing the Zonda's trademark high-mounted garbage-pail exhaust tunnel. Speculation based on the engine note suggests that the test mule could be running the SLR's kompressor eight, which could hold promise for a more compact and nimble successor to the ferocious Pagani Zonda.

Sounds too smooth to be an 8-cylinder, I did hear a whine but that could really be the drivetrain...
