Mustang Ford Mustang GTD And GTD Competition

Focusing on Döttinger Höhe

GTD Competition enters the straight at higher speed, but from then on, the two seem to be accelerating at a similar rate... up to a point.
The difference in top-end is due to gearing. Standard GTD upshifts into 6th gear at 280 kph (and kind of dies there) while GTD Competition does so at about 307 kph!

So much for the 1,000 hp theory.

Do you reckon 1,000 hp is achievable? And how much weight do you think they've lost?

Are the other gears longer as well?

I guess it’s rather 900hp instead of 1000hp.

Very interesting analysis. Keep up the good work (y)

Probably not. You can't have a car named "Competition" heat soak during a prolonged track day session.

I agree with Klier. There's not much more weight you can remove before it starts looking like a race car - which owners don't like.

Thanks! It does look to me like a change of final drive.
