C-Class (W205) First week with my 2015 W205 C300

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Body styles: W205 (sedan), S205 (wagon/estate), C205 (coupé), A205 (cabriolet), and V205 (long-wheelbase). Production: 2014–2021, 2016–2023 (coupé/cabriolet). Model years: 2015–2021, 2017–2023 (coupé/cabriolet). Predecessor: C-Class W204. Successor: C-Class W206.
11. Rear bumper cover does not fit properly, and there is a large "step" where it meets the body panel by the trunk and tail light ... pending.

Is the step like this? The W205 we get in Australia are manufactured at the South African plant.

And no curing like in the leather process - MB-tex is a synthetic leather (PU) as I understand it...

Hi guys my moms car has about 8000km and we had no issues except the Run flats which I don't like .
very disappointing to see the pics and problems on the USA model its a shame from MB.

Are you sure? Our w204s were sourced from Germany.

My picture was picked up and used by several online auto news sites. This is one of several reports.
Well MB USA better look after you quick smart for some damage limitation.

What the country where a car is built has to do with quality issues? I find this hard to accept since Mercedes should make sure that their cars would be reliable regardless of the country where they are made.

Quality and reliability are two different things. The fit and finish and assembly problems going on with the C-Class are a disgrace IMO. Mercedes really needs to fix this because the car itself is brilliant.

Sigh.......

Mercedes is growing too fast and not ensuring the quality.

On a 20k compact car I wouldn't flinch at a misalignment like this. But when you are paying upwards of $50K for a car you're right to expect a level of precision that sadly does not seem to be there.

My car is still at the dealer and probably will be there a few more days as they deal with the latest batch of repairs, including replacing the seat covers and headrests.

Wait, so the dealer is just replacing the seat covers? I would ask them to replace the entire seat under warranty. Heck, you can probably invoke lemon law and get an entire new car at this point.

At us in Poland we are giving cars imported from the USA a wide berth, cars installed in Germany are definitely more better qualitatively...

This is a picture from another forum of a member's US build.

I would frankly not read too much into the panel gaps between trunk lid and body. Car makers deliberately leave a quite significant gap (sometimes even more than 10 mm) to avoid sheet-metal contact when the lid is slammed shut. However there are other parts like between fender, lamps, hood etc. that show some imperfection in the fit and finish of the W205 (see photo of headlight). Even the new Passat is showing more precision in this respect...
