This is my first Benz. Its a 92 190 sportline. I have always been into 70'S Mopar muscle cars. Found this beauty a couple years ago but had to wait for my shot. It needs a ball joint. Ill replace both along with c/a bushings while im in there.
It is an auto trans but I want to convert to a manual. I wouldnt mind a complete motor, trans swap if I could find a donor car. What would be the best donor car to find with a 3.0 and man. trans?

Thanks man. Like i said Im totally new to MB.. So much to learn. Iv been into muscle cars my whole life. I drove a cosworth.190 and was hooked. Im going to get one. Can you direct me to writeups or posts that deal with swaping parts like drivetrains, rear diffs, brakes, ect. I got another 92 190e in the deal that has no motor or trans. I would like to put a big motor in that and rip some stuff up. But the first thing I want to do is put a man. trans. in the Sportline. Thanks again.

Hi Dick,

Welcome to GCF. I think it was be best for you to try to locate a similar 190E with a manual transmission (not sure if any made their way over the Atlantic back then) and then see if you really want to do the manual conversion. Please bear in mind those late 1980's to early 1990's Mercedes 5-speed manual transmissions were pretty mediocre.

If I were you, I'd keep it original. Spend the money to tidy up the exterior and a set of period AMG rims.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome Wunderkind. I have a parts car that has the pedals but no trans.. Looking for an upgrade if possible in the form of a manual trans. I will keep the original auto trans and related parts. If i decide not to swap in the Sportline I want to do something with the parts car like an ultimate sleeper..
Where can I find production numbers on Sportline models for 92?
