Mini’s new Clubman is still a relative newcomer but already there’s a range of factory-backed accessories and performance upgrades designed exclusively for it by the guys at John Cooper Works (JCW). The modified car will be officially unveiled at next year’s Geneva Motor Show but fans of the 2008 Mini Challenge series in Europe would have already seen it as the official pace car.

The JCW prepped version is differentiated by its unique exhaust pipes, racing stripes and carbon fiber side mirrors and bonnet scoop. The car also gets new 18in alloys and blacked out taillight surrounds.

Under the hood lies the standard 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine but a small increase in boost pressure sees output jump to 192hp from 175hp. Peak torque comes in at 270Nm. Expect to see the 0-62mph dash take just over six seconds.

Some of the optional accessories for the interior include carbon fiber trim and F1-style shift lights for the instrument panel.

I'm not a fan of the clubman, but this is alright. I still wouldn't buy it, but it does look better than the normal version.

MINI

Mini (stylized as MINI) is a British automotive brand founded in 1969, owned by German BMW since 2000, and used by them for a range of small cars assembled in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands. The word Mini has been used in car model names since 1959, and in 1969 it became a brand in its own right when the name "Mini" replaced the separate "Austin Mini" and "Morris Mini" car model names.
