And it amazes me how you and several other members get upset just because a review doesn't agree with what you WANT to read.
I wouldn't accuse anybody or any magazine of bias just because they don't agree with my OWN preconceived idea of what I think the car is like. Gianclaudio, you haven't even SEEN the S-Class in real life never mind driven it! So, do you realise how biased THAT viewpoint is? To actually have an opinion on how a car should be received even though you haven't even set eyes on it? It's very biased. I suggest you look up "bias" in the dictionary if you need any more clarification.
"Beyond pathetic" is how I would describe people's reaction when they see a review not correlate with their own and then throw their toys out of the pram, which is what yourself and several other members on here do.
I couldn't give a toss WHAT a journalist says about a car. I'm intelligent enough to make up my own mind should I be in the position to buy one.
Oh, and we can all play the game of highlighting what you want to highlight. Autocar did write this...
"If you are a luxury car customer who wants the most comfortable and refined car out there then the S-class is for you. "
Seriously, get a grip......
The glove did fit you, didn't it?
First and foremost.. which is my opinion on the S class and were do I mention the Autocar review doesn't meet my own criteria?
This is not about Autocar meeting or not my expectation on what I'll like to hear/read (or not) about the S class.
My two points are about,
1) Why, deliberately, the 7er, A8, Quattroporte and LS are not even mentioned in the article, whereas the XJ and RR are. If the autor does feel oportune to make a comparition with other cars, why let out the main rivals and just talk about the JLR products? Aren't the forementioned rivals good enough?
2) In which sense the RR "moved the game" more than the S class. You don't have to be a genius to realize the impact the S class has on the whole industry. It's arguably the car that indeed moves the game and raise the bar generation after generation, and where most safety, comfort and technological gadgets debut.
What's the "feels more of the same" and "derivative interior" part on the S class more evident compared to the Rangie? The s class interior is a white sheet new design compared to the W221, whereas the Rangie is an evolution of the old.
How can you be so blind or choose to to be so blind, when the situation it's so obvious is beyond my rational thinking. And then you have the bravery to call my reaction as beyond pathetic.....
As a final, color note. Yesterday on Autocar's website home there wasn't any feature about the first S class they tested. They let the new for two days and then removed it.
When they try a Rangie, the new stays in first page for days and days. I've posted, TWICE, on the RR threads, captions where the whole Autocar's homepage was dedicated to Range Rover articles.
