E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [First drives] Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
What a mess. So the new I4 diesel are here from day one, new I4 and I6 gas for late 2016 and new I6 diesel on early 2017?

Don't think it's a mess, it's more like a timed release. There is a big risk of launching a brand new car with brand new set of engines.

Beautiful roofline and rear end proportions. Short front over hang. This is E is going to be perfect once the new engines are added.

Very exciting, not to mention promising! This is the beginning of, what I believe, a revival of the W124, in terms of success and technological advances. To have an increase of 15-20% in fuel efficiency is a huge improvement, and I believe this to be one of the biggest driving forces for anyone looking for a mid sized executive sedan! Rivals such as the A6 (which I am a personal fan of) and 5 Series (not so much) better watch out!

The W212F E250 gets 41MPG highway, and the E350/400 gets 29MPG highway, so if you increase that up to (+/-) 50 and 35MPG, respectively, you're really going to get your money's worth on the bottom line! And that's not's even bringing up the point that these are driver's cars, which is a huge plus in itself!

And then take into account the facelifted W222! If they can tweak it further, the W222 and W213 will be the two best MBs so far THIS CENTURY!

Terrific engine options en route, legendary Mercedes comfort and advances in technological systems are awesome, but if you wrap all that in a car that is so beautifully sculpted and designed aesthetically, you're not talking about a car here, you're talking about an automotive masterpiece that now anyone can enjoy!

Here's to the W213! :t-cheers:

To think that the 5er is going to be a better car than this seemingly good car is amazing .....well done MB.

Come one guys. Didn't we say the same thing about C-class? And don-t forget about the upcoming Audi A6. Be patience and wait a year before we draw any conclusions.

Seems too good to be true for me ! Just a passenger ride, usually those are better than than real test drives. I would wait until proper tests are realised... but if treue, that's a hell of a car !

Lame first drives if you ask me. Heavy camouflage preproduction cars.

What does camouflage have to do with the drive a car? Since when were these "first drives" of undisguised vehicles? Car will only be more refined in production anyways.

If I want read about a review I want to see the car and also Im not intrested in hearing about passengers rides. MB isn't the only ones doing like this.
If this float your boat , then I'm not here to argue against it. My opinion remain the same though.

Just fyi the C is outselling 3er in almost every market;)

A ride in the passenger seat is certainly much different to driving the car itself, but it gives a good idea of the passenger space and comfort, ride comfort, noise levels and interior look and build quality.

We'll see by the end of the year. Worldwide sales from 2015 will be shown then. Anyway, C-class haven't exactly been no. 1 in carreviews and I thought that's what you guys were talking about.

Was the German press the only group allowed to see the new E-Class? Where is the rest of the automotive press?

If that floats your boat...but literally the whole point of these reviews are to drive it, not to see what it looks like.
