CLA (C117) [First drives] Mercedes-Benz CLA-CLASS - TESTS

The Mercedes-Benz C117 is the first generation of the CLA series of luxury subcompact executive cars marketed as a four-door coupé. Model codes: C117 (4-door coupé), and X117 (shooting brake). It is succeeded by the CLA (C118). Production: 2013-2019.

I agree with you that the design of the CLA points to it not been a normal family saloon but more a sporty 4door coupe like its CLS bigger brother and therefore compromises are with headroom due to the lower curved roof and access to the car for tall people. I am 184cm tall and did a self sit test in the back seat with front seat adjusted for me and the car is cramped in the back, legroom is not a serious problem slightly pushing my knees in the seat back but the headroom is not good have to bend the head slightly. The back seat squab is very short which is not comfortable for tall guys. I do like the design of the dash and quality is good. Front seats with integrated headrests are relatively comfortable. The standard CLA with small tires look terrible, they look great with big wheels and AMG kit.
 
A decent review by caradvice for the CLA, conversely one which is not too harsh unlike many others..
