I voted for the mclaren, but I feel like I'm gonna regret it, I just voted in terms of performance...

But anyways both are dream cars, and they both offer more than what u need in a road car. I'd buy the Ferrari ( if i had the money), why because every little detail in the car reminds u of what it's worth, even if ur behind the wheel... The mclaren looks many generations behind, and the interior is crap... Other than that it's a monster

I really can't wait for the car magazines to have a head to head comparison of these 2 cars......you KNOW it's going to be epic.

From the initial specs/impressions of the MP4-12C, my vote right now goes to the McLaren. There are a number of reasons.

I technical and engineering superiority of the MP4-12C is something I value.....especially when it all works to make me go faster around a track on lapping days. In fact, I'm willing to bet that for the average driver who tracks their cars, most people will be faster in the MP4-12C than the 458 Italia simply because of signficiantly more low-end torque in the turbo engine.......it is much easier to maximize your corner exit speeds than having the balls to maximize your corner entry speeds.

The fact that it rides so well means driving this car on everyday roads can also be super enjoyable.

I actually prefer the more subtle and less flashy look of the McLaren. I've never envisioned myself as a "Ferrari" type of guy.......

And finally, I've always cheered more for the McLaren F1 team.......:D

Whatever you say man. Competitor, comparator... Take your pick. My point is that Aventador has as much business in this thread as Huayra. Whether these two all carbon fibre, V12, ultra exotics should be deemed as competitors or not can be debated in another thread.

Sorry, wrong again. There will be far more people cross shopping the Mclaren with the LP700 (as I have seen potential buyers already state interest in both) than either car with the Pagani.

I voted McLaren. It is now my DREAMCAR, and I think it will stay for quite some time. I do not think the Murcielago replacer will convince me, but I am looking forwards to the Gallardo replacer, may end up very light (Aventador CF), very good looking in and out (Estoque) and very nicely engineered (VAG ?) and a very good daily driver (Audi).

Even though I bow down for the 458 for its engine, technology and performace, I'll probably never get over its looks. Since the Macca is a real wolf in sheep's clothes, this one is easy. MP4-12C pour moi.

This is so easy... Italia any day! Never really been a Ferrari fan but even if it was the F355 up against that McLaren, I'd opt for the F355. But the Italia is so hot, its prone to spontaneous combustion every now and then. Is that a bad thing?

The McLaren looks sooooo old. What happened? Was the concept penned in the 90's and it took this long to build it?

In some ways footie may be right about comparing the MP4-12C to the Aventador. In striaght line the Aventador accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2,9 sec, and the MP4-12C in 3,3 sec, 3,1 sec with sport tires. The is is then 0,3 sec to 0,5 sec depending on tires. But we should not forget the Lambo has AWD, so much better grip. Then power to weight ratio is the same, 2,25 kg/PS for the Lambo (1575 kg and 700 PS) and 2,23 kg/PS for the Macca, but it can even be lower, 2,17 kg/PS if it has the lightweight options (1300 kg and 600 PS). My gestimates, on track the MP4-12C may be faster than the Aventador. Also it is interesting why only the 2,9 sec time from 0-100 km/h is communicated but not the 0-200 km/h time? Is its time worse than 9,1 sec?

I love the old McLaren F1 GTR but not the new MP4 12C, so Ferrari 458 Italia is my choice!

Mc claims 9.1s, and 8.9s with Pzero Corsa...but it seems a little bit optimistic
