288 GTO Ferrari 288 GTO Group B spec


The Ferrari GTO (aka Ferrari 288 GTO) (Type F114) is an exotic homologation version of the Ferrari 308 GTB. Production: 1984-1987. Predecessor: Ferrari 250 GTO. Successor: Ferrari F40.

This was one of my bedroom poster cars of the 1980's, stunningly beautiful 288 GTO. Sounds glorious in this video.

The Group B Spec would have looked like this, the 288 GTO Evoluzione. They only built 6, the Group B track formula was canned due to lack of support, the car wouldn't have been competitive in tarmac rallies either and they had no other series to run the car in so they didn't build the 20 cars they had to build. Eventually the Evoluzione morphed into the F40.

Yeah you can see the resemblance to the F40, but this car was not as beautiful as the F40.
