Ingolstadt/Munich – The Bavarians are back again: after a season without a title last year, the team in 2008 again managed the double win of the championship and the DFB cup. Audi congratulates its partner on these exploits and will escort the players after their last home game next Sunday in A4 Cabriolets from the Allianz Arena to Marienplatz.

Audi and FC Bayern München have been partners and jointly “on the ball” since summer of 2002. Four times the German record champion has since achieved the double feat of clinching the championship title and the DFB cup. Meanwhile it has become a cherished tradition for the players to present themselves to their fans in convertibles of their partner after their last home game. After the final whistle against Hertha BSC Berlin the team around captain Oliver Kahn will be honoured officially before getting into the back seats of the Audi A4 Cabriolets to travel to city hall in the centre of the city.

“We are pleased to be at the side of the most successful German club and extend cordial congratulations to the team on the double win. In the past season the team showed us fantastic football,” says Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of AUDI AG. As premium partner, Audi provides 50 vehicles to FC Bayern München and, in return, presents itself at the Allianz Arena and at other events.
Players, coaches and officials can choose freely from Audi’s model range. Oliver Kahn, for example, travels to practice sessions in the equally sporty and comfortable Audi S8, while super star Luca Toni – like his team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger – has opted for the Audi Q7. However, the partnership goes beyond the scope of a typical sports sponsoring arrangement: at the beginning of 2003, for example, the Audi workforce founded the Audi FC Bayern fan club, which currently has a membership of over 5,000.

The commitment to FC Bayern München is the longest-standing partnership AUDI AG has maintained in football. In addition, the manufacturer from Ingolstadt supports the teams of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona as well as – via its importers – the teams of Manchester United, Ajax Amsterdam, Olympique Lyon, Red Bull Salzburg and AC Milan.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
