Was a bit surprised we don't have a dedicated W126 thread after a search. Wow, this might be the cleanest, non-museum W126 out there. Flawless

There is no such thing as a bad S-Class. At worst, it's marginally great (W220) but my favorite has to be the W140 or W221, they just have that stern German gravitas, especially in the interiors. I noticed the doors of my W222 to be much lighter than my old W221 and I find that to be concerning (unless they changed the build materials steel --> aluminum).

It's hard to find a car with heavy doors these days. There are aluminum aspects to the door, yes.

W222 doors are aluminum with minimal steel, so it's hard for aluminum to have the old school feeling of steel solidity.

It is so sad because I love those big and heavy solid feeling doors. Even though I know it is not true for modern cars, the feeling of light doors= cheapness for me. The doors on a client's 2009 Phantom Coupe are like literal bank vault doors! Good thing they have the power closing mechanism...

The facelifted S 400 d 4MATIC I've been driving around in for the last four days is my favourite. Absolutely stupendous.

And the Phantom is all aluminium.

I think its the most appropriate video for this thread, how ever I wish it was in English or had subtitles.
