- Popular exhibition to remain open until 12 April 2026
- Young classics belonging to millennials evoke memories and emotions
- Staging of the thematic display islands with original designer fashion of the era
Since April 2025, the show has been inspiring visitors with ten Mercedes-Benz icons from the 1990s and 2000s – from the SLK and the E 60 AMG to the SLR McLaren Roadster. The Museum has created a series of colourful and trendy thematic display islands to showcase not only the history of automotive technology, but also the attitude to life of a whole generation. Be it “Easy Life”, “Supersonic”, “Feinsinn” (“Refinement”) or “Subculture” – each production is reminiscent of an era in which mobility was an expression of freedom and style. The exhibition is complemented by interactive stations with artificial intelligence, an arcade racing game with a 1990s look and the opportunity to “face swap” into photos of your own dream car.
In addition to the rare collectors’ cars, the fashion exhibited on the thematic display islands is well worth a look: the figurines next to the cars are wearing original pieces by top international designers – true highlights from the world’s major fashion shows. The list of labels represented reads like a “who’s who” of international fashion. This creates a further, exciting journey through time in the middle of the vehicle exhibition, which is now complemented by in-depth texts and a web app. The Museum curated the fashion to go with each thematic display island in close collaboration with Prof. Natalie Seng from Reutlingen University (TEXOVERSUM School of Textiles). The fashion pieces come from renowned international lenders.
Outside the Museum, the young classic spirit will also remain present until 12 April 2026: five vehicles in oversized “sales packaging” can still be seen in the glass showcases in the car park – including an A 160 “Häkkinen”, a C 55 AMG and the Vision CLK 320 CDI. Another thrilling exhibit is the A-Class HyPer concept car with hybrid drive on the Classic Island right at the foot of the escalator in the entrance area.
