Now some of you wonder what the h*** the CLK GTR is doing there?

Well, apparently the car broke down when they drove the car. The gearbox was horrible so was the paddles and clutch. On the track they had problem, quote: "power-on and lift-off oversteer."


This can be found in the latest issue of EVO. I found the info on a swedish carboard and they are discussing the list so thats where I get the info from.

I don't care if the CLK GTR was a terrible road car and/or racing car. In my opinion it certainly should not be on the list..

There are far worse vehicles.. Or at least, when it comes to road going supercars, let's be honest, the Bugatti EB110 wasn't exactly a pinacle.

Their comments about Saab VIGGEN

" Saab´s engineers reckoned a little torque-steer was no bad thing, that it allowed the driver to "feel the challenge of the power".
As we discovered, in the wet the viggen would spin alternate front wheels so violently out of junctions and on uneven surfaces that it was quite possible to travel from one side of the road to the other without turning the wheel.
They even did a convertible version, wich married rampant torque-steer to a wobbly body and was probably he worst thing I´ve ever driven.

its a extreme car, racing car converted into a roadcar, not many of them were sold and probably for a reason like realibility. You cant even stay in a traffic queue without your CLK-GTR starts to boil . Its racing car and apparantly too extreme for the streets. Fact remain, when EVO drove the car they had problems and those werent pleasent so they added the car to the list.

Hey..I'm not saying it is the best car ever made, far from it. I just believe they could have picked something even worse to take it's place.

I havent read the article, Im just quoting from a Swedish board. Maybe they explain more closely when we read the article. I only have the list and some qoutes from the issue.

on the carboard I found this info they hasvent mentioend anything yet. Regarding the Corolla EVO said engine,chassi and gearbox was a very terrible combination.

I noticed they mentioned the Invicta S1 in the side bar.. When Sports Car International tested the car they thought It was superb, however I know that EVO drove an earlier S1, so that might explain it (pre production model)

That wasn't the CLK-GTR. The CLK-GTR was a championship winning car, it dominated the Le Mans Championship the year it took part in.

That wasn't the CLK-GTR. The CLK-GTR was a championship winning car, it dominated the Le Mans Championship the year it took part in.

Even if it was a CLK, the race car's shortcomings (if you want to call it that) shouldn't get in the way of evaluating the road car.

Take the Porsche 911 GT1, for example...I wouldn't let this video get in the way of owning one.
