I'm somewhat new to the car world. I'm 20 and I have never been much of a car guy.. but, as I get older.. I feel a desire to go fast i love acceleration in particular. Although I do desire to hurl myself at over 200 miles an hour one day down a deserted road and pray to god they don't have camra's watching.

At the moment I drive a little yaris.. which i love.. its perfect for my situation at the moment. I take great pride (even before getting into cars) in my vehicle and do my best to take care of it.

I don't know why.. but, I read a book once which mentioned a porsche.. I began wanting to go faster as I realized there is a thrill in going faster.. I love acceleration (I can't get it in my car.. but, when I'm riding with friends.. they enjoy it as well).

I can't say why I fancy porsche as much as I do.. but, it seems like an Ideal car. Although I must admit I'm disturbed to see so many Nissan vs Porsche compairisons. I have nothing against Nissan making a sports car compariable to a Porsche.. However, i am somewhat shocked to see the sheer amount of critisizem and glee of Nissan Enthusiast brag about how much "better" their Nissan is than a Porsche. (Particularly the z370 to the Cayman S). Not saying I'm defending Porsche or anything.. And I'm not saying Nissan fans don't have a right to be happy they have a quality car thats fast.. I guess I just wonder why they have malice towards Porsche.

The article compairing the two is actually what brought me here. Heck maybe one day I'll drive both and opt out for the Nissan. However, for the moment.. Porsche just has some sort of allure that goes beyond specs, beyond "status symbol" and beyond logic that compelles me to want the Porsche over the Nissan.

As far as speed addiction goes XD.

How many of yall have add? I hear addiction is common with add lol.

And as to rehab.. I can believe it. I want more.. its a great feeling just to accelerate my in my friends g6 (not a sports car or anything.. but, it has far superior acceleration then mine).

And addiction is addiction. Some people die of drug over dose. Some people die going 200 miles straight into a brick wall .

As long as you have fun dieing from addiction isn't the worst way to go

As far as the speed addiction goes(on a serious note), it's a very dangerous addiction many lives have been lost due to the fact of not being able to control the car.

There was a story not long ago about a couple of young lads in a BMW M5 doing 170mph+ then went straight into a tree.

There more to just having a fast German car, there is the sensible side as well ask any member on this forum with a powerful BMW, Audi, Porsche and so on and they will all tell you speed is dangerous.

I must admit.. knowing what I know now.. I WISH it was standard.. better acceleration, better fuel economy..

My gf has an old standard truck i want to learn how to drive soon. It only makes sense that I learn how to drive it before getting a Porsche.

And I do understand the dangers of speed. Not in full to be honest.. but, I am a very cautious driver. I don't go much over 80 if any cars are around I definitely don't go over speed limits in cities and towns and such.

However, this is all part of why I want a nicer more expensive vehicle.. Because even at lower speeds I am overly cautious due to the fact that I drive a yaris. I want a performance car that can allow me to be a little more aggressive in driving. I hate when my gf and I are going 80 in the 70 she in her truck and me in my car and she can pass someone but, I can't due to perfromance issues..

I never want to be an 'agressive' driver... However, I do want to be more aggressive.. People LOVE letting her pass.. and then pulling up to another car right beside them and going 70 so I can't pass... so it would be nice to be in a car fast enough to avoid some of those issues.

Lol. Its not that bad. its a 20 year old standard ford truck. Ranger to be precise.

Its not Nearly as bad as all the lame mustangs I see around town. I nearly puke sometimes. I actually see one guy with a mustang at work.. the guy is a customer.. He has "cobra" stuff attached to make it look like a cobra.. when its really... just a crappy mustang. Him getting up to 20 mph sounds louder then my yaris going 100.

I know fast cars have a tendancy to be loud.. but, I get annoyed at all the kids who mod their vehicles to sound fast when they are slower then a mustang..

Plus I live in a collge town.. so I HATE seeing all these "monster trucks" which are modded to hell and back and still look horrible.. Not to mention all these kids who got mercedes for their 16th birthday.

I LOVE having a car that has no modifications. Its not pimped out and it still doesn't look horrible. I hope that One day I can have a nice fast car that I either earn myself.. i think thats the ONE thing I love about most Porche cars.. I don't see them all "pimped out". God I hate "pimped" cars.. I vary rarely ever see a vehicle that has been modified in any decent manner.


I can live with my girlfriend being able to out maneuver me...I can handle most people being able to really... However, it sorta cements the "this is why I want a nice job". I got the Yaris brand new and cherish it. However, Once I have the money.. I want a nice car. I am not into being a millionaire, I am not into having a huge over sized house.. I just want enough in savings incase its needed.. and then to spend the rest on nice car and big tv XD. So for me its more about getting the things I want with my money.. and being able to go fast.. real fast.

I do like trucks, my personal favorite is the Mitsubishi L200 Warrior and Nissan Navara, they do pack some punch!

I feel the same about young lads and crappy chavvy cars

As for monster trucks, depends what you mean. I don't like all these huge ass Ford which have never seen mud in there life but I love Land Rovers/Range Rovers. A friend of mine has a Defender 90..Very fun car

And we think soo alike, I hate nodded car I love the simplicity of a beautiful German Car

I think we may differ a bit on the 'mud' issue. or perhaps the truck issue in general.

I'm not a fan of useless mods on trucks. I see these trucks which people literally have to climb in with some touch of "camo" on them somewhere and want to puke.

One time I saw a truck which was actually lowered slightly from what it was factory. A more experienced truck enthusiast may have noticed it right away.. for me.. it was just an issue of practicality. It was a truck to haul stuff.. So lowering it ment I could get the washer in it easier.

I see trucks like that and much worse all the time.. And I am pretty positive the people don't go mud riding in them.

Infact it is usually some kid who probably got their mommy to pay for it to be modded.

Its ironic that in my home town I get annoyed by all the trucks the kids drive that their parents buy.. (Lots of f150's, Silverado's and crap like that). Because I honestly don't believe a kid needs an expensive vehicle for their first vehicle.. much less an over sized truck while they are an inexperiencd driver..

Now I get ticked off to see all these college kids driving mercedes .. I'm sorry I'm 20 almost 21 and I don't want my parents to give me a nice vehicle like that.. I don't want to be able to say the only reason I have this really expensive nice car is because my parents paid for it.

If someone drives a truck for the purpose of mud riding.. I'm not AS cynical.. but, sadly.. I really think where I live.. Its more about *looking* like you mud rid. and having the big overly modded f150 to be "cool"

Cost and gas prices be damned! we can make a vehicle look like crap so people think we go mud ridding!

Sadly their parents let them do it.

*forgot* I hate to say It but, I have more respect for the parents who just buy their kids the expensive german cars and such then the parents who pay just as much for a truck which has been modded into uglyness and then end up paying the same price.. at least the Mercedes has a brand name behind it..

Ok now your trucks are what I'm talking about! They look good can go through mud to the point your almost under water and are not ugly as hell!!

I actually got pretty mad one day.. We had a customer come up in a BIG blue f150 and park in the handicap spot.

I'm sorry but, I feel if you need the rails on your truck so that you can climb in and out.. you don't really need that handicap sticker.. I mean my grandparents can barely get into a regular car.. so if you can climb up and into an f150.. well.. I don't think you have a problem..

Anyways, welcome to the forum man. The Yaris is a good little car, good fuel economy and cheap on the insurance.

As for the need for speed, this is a German car forum, and Germany has Autobahn. You're on the right forum my friend.

Also, I too like trucks. I wouldn't ever buy a F250 or such simply because that's overkill for my needs. The most I would ever go with is a F150-crew cab with a few luxuries. That would allow me to go camping more often.
