EDDV (Hannover Airport) spotting - Airbus A380 "D-AIMA" Lufthansa

On June, 3rd the Lufthansa Airbus 380 did a short flying visit in Hannover. The runways and airport was seamed by more then 10.000 bystanders (and I was one of them), since this was the only official landing of this plane here. Landed at 10.47 AM and started one hour later into the direction of the Hamburg airport…

The weather was absolutely fantastic - 24°C and sun! Would have loved some more clouds, because I think, the photos would have become even better. Equipped my D60 with my old 80-200mm lens and then this bird arrived. Wasn't really impressed by its design (A340-600 is much more beautiful and elegant. while the B747 is more dynamic then the A380). Nevertheless one great looking plane - and the most impressive thing was definitely its sheer silence.

So, I hope you will enjoy the set of photos I took that day… :usa7uh:

Thanks for these pictures, ree. Is this the A380 that will take the German soccer team to RSA?

And the second and last set of photos. The same Airbus will be at the ILA 2010 in Berlin next week - and according to the list at the homepage there will be another one or two in Airbus House Livery. I will be not in Berlin though, because I'm changing my place that week.

Yep! That's the Airbus, that will take the team to South Africa. :usa7uh:

Lufthansa only has this A380 at the moment - don't know, when the next delivery is planned.

It was in Hannover because they introduced twelve pilots (who upgrade their license) on this plane. They travelled from Frankfurt to all bigger airports in germany - which step in as alternative airports, when the A380 can't land in Frankfurt or Munich.

Here's a fuel burn blurb: :eusa_clap

"Today five major airlines, Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airline, Qantas, Air France and Lufthansa, operate 30 A380s on 20 routes linking 18 major international destinations. Together they have carried nearly five and a half million passengers on 15,000 revenue flights and have clocked up almost 140,000 revenue flight hours. These A380 flights have saved 640,000t of CO2 emissions by replacing journeys that would otherwise have been made with less fuel-efficient large aircraft. The A380 has the lowest fuel burn of any wide body aircraft, needing less than three litres of fuel per passenger per 100km." - Source: http://www.eads.com

Only a little excessive, if I do say so myself...

Your old 80-200 mm lens? I was about to say "Someone got themselves a new lens!" :D

Nice shots!

"old" because it was bought about twelve or thirteen years ago for our old Nikon (doesn't work anymore though)! But the lens working fantastic. Only manual focus and would love to have a sharper focus (well, more scope) sometimes - but before buying a new one I'm absolutely happy with it. And it is extremely light, which is fabulous because of no stabiliser or anything.
