3 Series (E90) e90 335i or e93 328, i need some opinions

The fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model codes E90 (saloon), E91 (estate, marketed as 'Touring'), E92 (coupé) and E93 (convertible). The model was produced by BMW until October 2013 and is often collectively referred to as the E90, E9x, or occasionally, the E92.

i'm really torn about which car i should get..

e90 335i has the speed and is cheaper.....

e93 328 has the looks and is just a really stunning convertable....

also i dont have enough money for a e93 335i, that would have solved all my problems lol

which cars would you guys get?

I like them both but since we dont have much sun in Sweden my choice E90 335i. Whatever you choose its two damn nice cars. :usa7uh:

I would go for the cabrio. The engine is good enough. The car is quick, but not as much as the 335i. But then you get the looks of the cabrio!

My choice would be the E90 335i... It looks great, is fast and if I would go for a BMW Convertible, I would choose between 6 series convertible and Z4!!

well you should definitely drive them first. But because your living in VanCouver where it is cold pretty much 80% of the year-go with the 335i. I think that would be the better choice.

Why not an E92 335i? although the E92 328i (325i in Europe) is quick enough and the consumption is acceptable (less than the E46 325ci) but it (feels) heavy and less sporty than an E46 325ci or E36 325i coupe because the E92 is more comfortable imo too comfortable that it feels a bit boring but of course the E92 is quicker and better. I m not into the E90 the E92/3 is more classy and elegant

i have driven them both, and it just still comes down to performance or looks to me, and why do you people down south of our border always assume its cold up here? Vancouver has really nice hot summers

The e93 is a hardtop convertible and looks better...nothing more to say. I'd go for the e93 in a heatbeat over the e90

imo the performance and engine of the 335i will put a smile on your face everytime you start driving, while the nice looks and feeling of freedom of the cabrio only takes it so far, and then you've seen it. Not to mention the 335i's advantage in handling, interior space, weight and being an overall stiffer, more solid car...

I was in Van Couver last August-and was happy that we had the top up... Lets just put it this way...it aint southern CA.

If you have distinct seasons with warm summers up there then I would go for the 328i. Although the 335i is a quick car it will blend in amongst all the other e90s rolling on the roads. The e93 is far more exclusive and has a more expensive look.

E93 all the way.

If you really wanna a cab then you must choose it but you are hestitating so it's the 335i coupé all the way.

You're saying they will sell more 335i sedans than 325i/330i cabrio?
I think not.

For people who don't know anything about cars, they will not even see that the e93 is a cabrio, and most probably think the e90 and e93 are exactly the same cars, minus the shape of the backlights maybe.
But, for people who do know their cars, the 335i with engine of the year and blah blah blah will be more special than the 328 cabrio.

I like to look at it this way:
A 3er with one exhaust or two exhausts on both sides of the back (335i/M3) is on another level than ALL the others, no matter what model and what trim.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough but what I meant is that the E93 is more exclusive than the E90. It doesn't matter if it's a 335i from a distance it is still a ordinary E90 if you don't notice the pipes.

Common misconception that drives me f'ing insane and usually (not always..) a case of being uninformed of the world around you. Anyhow, as we are both aware, the weather has been fantastic in Vancouver as of late. Actually aside from a few rainy days, the weather has been superb the whole last two months hasn't it?

Hell, it's not raining right now..

Most definitely drop top weather and surely evident by the F430 Spyder's spotted. Having said that, I'd swing for the Cabriolet.

well, it aint the worst weather but today-on a mid day of june its 59 degrees farenheit according to weather.com. That is cold-in my honest opinion. Wednsday its going to be 54 and thursday its going to rain.... So i think the argument that vancouver is some sort of summer haven-isnt really reality. Even if the weather is that good during the summer-that is only 1/4 of the year meaning you wont get as much use out of your convertable as you might think.

The temp in LA right now is 75....

BUT, on the flip side- if you arent married and are trying to impress women-then the convertable might be the better choice....but if you are married then the sedan would be better.

Ok, well this thread is not about Vancouver's weather (or Canada's quite frankly).

Nonetheless, nobody said Vancouver was a 'weather haven', but to implicate that it you can't get full use of a convertible is downright ridiculous (especially when it's based upon a few days from a weather chart).

Furthermore, I lived in Washington state for a few years and I imagine you would not even believe how similar the weather climate actually is to Vancouver. Guess what? My father owned a Honda S2000 in Washington state and used the thing all year round. Now I'm not implying that it doesn't rain in Vancouver (or Washington state for that matter), but the fact remains that one can use a convertible more than just two months of the year here.

With that being said, I imagine you wouldn't believe how many drop-tops there actually are in Vancouver, of all types too: BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari. You name it. They're certainly getting use of their convertibles.

Therfore, that explains the reason I would choose the E93.
