E55 AMG with 4matic?

Thanks! I just had to register and answer this, because I have put a lot of search into this issue. Have a E430 4matic myself and looking into "making" a 55 out of it

The owner's teen-ager son is a big time ricer & owns a riced out Civic with 4 exhausts & Porsche's turbo emblem! :D

He mistakenly ordered 4-matic sticker on ebay & later came to know Civic is fwd! Look, where the badge ended! :t-rot:

Hello everyone!! Yes, the E 55 Amg 4matic did exist; it was only sold in Europe, never in the states and as someone quoted, all of them were E 430 transformed into E 55s. As far as I know, only differences were how high the car sits from the road -it´s taller than normal E 55s because of the 4matic- and that it can not fit the airmatic suspension that E 55s had - I don´t know if this was because of being made from E 430 that never had this suspension as an option- apart from that, I read that its considerably faster through bends than normal E 55 due to the 4matic allowing far less intervention of the ESP system and also easier to drive.

Thanks a lot

I didn't know this. Never heard of such a car.

But given all the traction issues on 55 AMGs, I secretly asked myself why didn't they offer them as 4-Matic, so that the giant torque could actually be used to move the car instead of re-painting the road with tyres marks or powering the ESP-light...

I imagine the 0-100 and overall performances must be hugely improved with 4-Matic!
