I think what makes this DTM Championship win so special is that Mercedes-AMG bounced back from the 2014 season when they were all at sea and the significant personel changes made to the team have now paid dividends.

He started 8th, got past Maxime Martin at the start, then dropped to 18th, made his way back to 15th by the end of the lap.

They do tend to use all the track in DTM, unfortunately Wickens was using the gravel traps as well, and that's not a very fast line.

2016 season finished today at Hockenheim...

Congrats to the winners; Marco Wittmann for BMW as the drivers champion, whilst Audi took the manufacturers and teams titles. Mercedes leaves empty handed with 4 race wins matching BMW's 4 wins, both beaten fairly comprehensively by Audi on 10 race wins.

Not the greatest of seasons, but at least it came down to the last race.

Roll on 2017, should be some changes afoot, I really hope they come back to Brands Hatch next year.
