Driver's Republic: V8 Supersaloon Shootout

"The M3 simply murders the other two..."

Lap times for those who don't want to read through the whole thing:

M3: 2:15.5
IS-F: 2;17.2
C63: 2:18

I am surprised that the Lexus is almost a sec faster than the Merc.

From the spreed graph, M3's superiority on the turns is pretty obvious.

I'm telling you, if you can get past the looks (which is subjective anyway) and the annoying transmission, Lexus did a commendable job considering this is their first shot in this market.

So the C63 pushed the slowest track time but still came only half a star behind? wow must be damn impressive machine:D

The star rating is highly complimentary of the C63 and IS-F. Almost as if the track portion isn't even considered in the rating.

First attempt from Lexus in this business and only half star behind C63 with PP. Must be an impressive car. And despite tough competition M3 is still the benchmark, impressive indeed. "The winner? The M3, because it does so much , so well"

I have yet to driven IS-F but I doubt I pick it over the germans , also I dont find the car attractive .

Actually they they liked the transmission on the Lexus and said it was the best automatic box they had driven on a track. Except for the crappy looks, I won't be surprised if it is a better car than the Merc.

X6M and next M5 is getting Twinturbo so we can assume the next M3 is getting twinturbo as well. Wonder if the press are going to like it?

There have been nothing but praise for these new generation turbo engines for BMW, so I think they are looking good in this department

"The C63 is immediately devastating,M3 needs patience to unlock potential"

What i have been saying all along.

Whats wrong with that? hopefully you own a car more than a couple of days and once you learn the car you will have a more rewarding car than the C63 which the tester also said.
But fact remain, the M3 hasn't much in common with 335i, the drive is different which you have been claiming its not a difference.

Amazing photography! and a great review:usa7uh:

Well done BMW, amazing track car! But I'd rather have the C63 in that white:icondrool:bowdown:

Good to also see the daddy can still give these youngns a good kicking:D (Rs4:bowdown:)

Nothing is wrong, the M3 just needs to be worked harder than u have to with the C63.Depends on what u want.

C63 is a sledgehammer while the M3 is a scalpel,the choice is yours:D
