We’ve managed to get our hands on the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, and thought it might be fun to bring along the sublime Ferrari 599 and mighty Porsche 997 GT2. Let us know what you’d like to see and know here on Dialogue, and follow us today and tomorrow on Twitter as we put all three to the test.

No contest for me at all,SL65 Black Series for me please..

This one is going to be an excellent read. Happily awaiting the test here.

....hrm... I'd take the Mercedes SL63 BS, the 997 GT2 RS or the Ferrari 599 Scuderia...

Are you frikking mental? :D

YES..:D

But really the other cars might faster around the track but how many times the owners of those cars are gonna and compete on a track not to mention individual driver skill, aside from that no other car on the road holds a candle to the SL65 BS.

U mean the SL65..:D

Tarek, I think he meant hardcore racing versions of these cars in DR's group test. For example, the GT2 RS and the 'Scuderia' version of the 599 - the latter being compensated for by the recently released 599 HGTE.

As for the SL63 BS comment, I would have to agree with dr Dunkel. As good and insane the SL65 BS is, (and it is good and insane:D), I can't help but think that in light of the praise heaped on AMG for the CLK BS, that the real SL BS should have always been a mental version of the SL63, and not the SL65.

Instead, what we have in the SL65 BS is a mental and slightly more hardcore version of the standard SL65, which to be honest, is truly outclassed in terms of agility and driver appeal by the SL63. Now, 10 out of 10 to AMG for the commitment and changes they brought in to make the 65 BS, but I do think their job could have been a helluva lot easier had they stuck to modifying the SL63 to be the base car of the SL BS.

Can you imagine a 571hp hardtop, lightweight car, with the MCT, an active spoiler and wider rubber? Priced at around £130-150K. In fact, as I type this, I can't help but think the SL65 BS was a deliberate move by AMG, because the very car I just mentioned in this paragraph is not too far away from release is it?;)

Very clever AMG, very clever.:eusa_clap

While agree with almost all that except that i couldn't care less about the more agile cars in that test,so still SL65 BS for me..:D

And yes the SLS is just a few months away..:eusa_danc

Correct the SLS is why we didn't get a SL63 Black Series. The SL65 Black Series is likely the last hurrah for the current AMG V12 and maybe for the AMG V12 period.

The best car here IMO is the 599 period, but I want the Mercedes.

You know how it is. It's Tarek and his love for MB is crazy strong. Its a kinky love connection.

Damn right!:D

But seriously now,the SL65 handles far more than enough,i bet most of us would sh!t his pants from that kinda power:D

But still, all three drives differently and you dont need to be The Stig to like one of them over another. I'm certain SL65 BS is good enough for everyone but so is the M3 or C63 AMG. These cars are about emotions and I feel more for 997 GT2 than the Benz. 599 GTB is tempting too, tough decision. Luckily I don't have the cash ;)

Well for me the decision is far more easier:

SL65 BS

599GTB

GT2

Now where do i find the cash..:D

Hell would freeze over before I chose an overpowered juggernaut with a 5 speed auto over the best of Porsche and Ferrari. As good as it is to look at as well as to drive (to a point), the SL65 AMG BS is flawed from the outset against these classy, pedigreed machines.

Wow that took a while, almost 1 month. I thought the writeup would come the next week. :D
