Maybach 57/62 (W240/V240) Doug DeMuro reviews the Maybach 62.

The Maybach 57 (W240) and 62 (V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). The concept car and production models were based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class. Both models had an "S" (Spezial) option, and additional Landaulet version for the 62 S. Production: April 2002 – February 2013, 3,321 produced.
Confession time: I always liked the Maybach 62.
I also liked it especially as despite its age this car had many features and gizmos that not even some new cars have and it has huge space and comfort.

I think he is somehow wrong , comparing it to W220. Maybach 62 and 57 are similar to W221 , who was on market since 2007.

Maybach was on the market since 2003. A preview of the future W221

I haven't seen the video and maybe it is mentioned there but this Maybach was based on the W140.

Hoovie should buy this 62 from Doug's Cars and Bids site :D

I loved it back then and I still love it to this day. I can't think of a better luxury limousine. Sure, the tech is a bit obsolete for today standards, but I don't think the RR Phantom has that much space in the back.

@kiki voinea Doug got some facts wrong in that video, like when he says that the Maybach failed because it looked too much like a 2006 S-class and then he proceeded to use pictures of the 1999-2002 W220 S-class. He didn't even bother to look for actual pictures of a 2006 W220. Sloppy, very sloppy job from Doug.

He was saying that it looked too much like the S class , exterior wise. And was comparing it to a W220.

But in fact , it looks like W221 exterior wise

Yea, he was trying hard to promote it

The car is for sale on his website....

I still want a 57S. It's basically and updated W140. Perfect for that type of tank Benz.

I sat in some at the London 2008 autoshow. Videoa get across the insane amount of room it offers for rear occupants.

Ah yes... London... This reminds me that the British hated Maybach. I wonder if the British were all bitter because the Phantom and the aging Arnage couldn't hold a candle to the Maybach 62? Probably that.

Yeah, probably that...

Lol.

This car was so palatial in the back seat. Probably one of the nicest rear seats to sit and sleep in any car.

RR Phantom was massively overrated. Look at the amount of rear legroom in the picture that @Rolf posted. You couldn't get that amount of space and luxury in the backseat of Phantom, not even in the long wheelbase. And the partition in the back of the Phantom looked like an afterthought.

Who buys cars like that Phantom and 62 with partition ?

Proper luxury limos must have a partition for privacy. Go with the partition or go home.

P.S: I just noticed a couple of terrible things about this makeshift looking partition...

Not only the partition looks tragic, but doesn't have curtains, so you have ZERO privacy. And WTF is that in the middle? OMG... I can't believe it... You have to manually open a port-hole to talk to the driver and your bodyguard. You have to stretch and roll the little window... Ew! How plebeian is that?!

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
