Roberto said:I don't often disagree with you Yannis but I must say, that statement is very presumptuous of you. Yes, there are some very greedy people in the world who give money away for all the wrong reasons ...like for honours, notoriety, and personal gratification ...but not all wealthy people are like that. There are some extraordinarily generous people in the world who not only give large amounts of money but also devote themselves to doing good things in the world ....look at Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, and Ted Turner who have given billions of dollars away in a genuine effort to make the world a better place for those less fortunate than themselves.
I really agree with you on some points and disagrere with you on other points..
Talking from this side of the world, The documentary included some from the royal family from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.. excluding Mohammed Bin Sulayem who started his wealth from zero.
Although they spend that amount of money on their dreams to make them come true.. but believe me they spend double that for the people here in UAE. They built schools, better education, no taxes, cheap oil compared many other countries, and etc...
Here in our religion and tradition if you do good you dont have to say it in public its something between you and God.
My point that these guys are not greedy or they like to be the richest. for example Shk. Al nahyan have 200 servant to serve him, but these servant are having decent life their childrens have been provided by free education and all what they need. As he mentioned about not selling his cars he give the cars to people who cant afford to buy ones.
Am not being offensive here but i would like to make things clear..
PS. What you saw of dubai in that documentary is becoming reality here. by 2010 all these projects are going to be done. And if someone is intrested in a visit you willl really enjoy it...
Thanks
