I would love to see what a 2018 F1 car at max engine setting and no fuel flow restriction would be capable of.

1.5 engines used to push 1500hp in the 1980s. So a 1.6 engine with modern turbo technology and engine management could probably push near 2000hp with the right turbo. I would estimate 4:XX but you'd need to find a brave driver.

2000hp isn't farfetched as current F1 cars are more tuned for reliability than one race pace. However I am sceptical as to whether one would best the 919 which is sucked down to the road like a vacuum cleaner.

Well a restricted F1 car is faster than a restricted 919, so if a de-restricted one has 67% more power than the 919, it would surely win. I don't know whether the downforce is higher or lower for F1 because they have quite a lot of non-ground effect aero, but they are far lighter, so the downforce has more effect.

One thing to consider is the driver or rather human being. I know Timo was getting a bit close to the human limits during that lap. If you have an F1 car with close to 2000 hp, i don't know how many drivers in the world could drive it.

Aston Martin Valkyrie could beat that new Nurburgring record, Red Bull F1 boss says

Adrian newey has already designed a car that could lap any track faster than anything

Why is the reading at the top right blurred out? After Klostertal 2.

Lateral acceleration for Gt 2 Rs is too high, 2.6 g in galgenkopf????
2.58 in bergwerk.
In Sport Auto supertest is noway near

I'd like to see Porsche doing a run of the 911 RSR AND the WEC version of the 919 Hybrid to see how quick their top tier racers can go around the Nurburgring.

The GT3 R racing car can do the lap in around 6:25 to 6:30, so I assume that the RSR will do 6:17 to 6:22 around the Nordschleife, and another assumption is that the WEC version of the 919 Hybrid will do around 5:45 to 5:50...

This is what I wrote today after F1 qualifications at Spa:

2018 F1 Spa GP, the best time under dry conditions is from Ferrari in Q2: 1:41.5.
This is 2 tenths faster than the lap of the 919 Evo from Neel Jani.
Last year, from Q2 to Q3 the poleman dropped the time by almost 4 tenths, so let's assume that a 1:41.1 would have been the pole time this year with Q3 under dry conditions.
This would be 6 tenths faster than the 919 Evo lap time.
All in all, I am not that impressed by the times of the fastest 2018 F1 cars (Ferrari-Mercedes), and I think that the 919 Evo would still be a quicker car than them under the same track conditions.

To me, Porsche should come back to Spa after the F1 week-end and re-take the record.
I know that I would, if I were them.

It can be done, the car has the potential to bring it down (again). Just do it.

I wish someone would send a derestricted F1 car there to shut that guy up once and for all.
