Hey all. Noticed there seems to be absolutely nothing of the upcoming clk. No news, data, rumours, not even spyshots. Even the 2009 E class spyshots are out!! Isnt that weird considering the w204 has just been launched? We should at least be seeing prototypes shouldn't we at this stage.
Esp considering as we've seen and admired both e93 3seriescc and upcoming A5. I think benz have to really be on it. Any1 think last minute adjustments to competition or is this 'mystery' normal?
Also urge members to dig up whateva can be found. I trust this forum's members and if there's something out there in the universe it will be found;) ... Comon guys, go for it.

HERE IT IS! - WIMMER

I thought about the samething too a while ago. My theory is that MB is testing the new CLK on their closed test tracks. Next on the list is the C63 which will if I know MB make it's debut at Frankfurt. The estate is also due before the CLK and will hit the roads before new year.
As for the CLK we don't know what MB has planned. We don't know if it will just be a 2 door version of the CLK or if it will differ dignifigantly from the sedan, like with the S and CL

I think benz want to do something with this model esp seeing whats come from the competition. Most spectacular of which i think is the 3 seriescc from bmw which i think is just marketing genius in that class. Much as the slk and sl were. Much as it (upcoming clk) might not handle as dynamically as the e92/93, im sure it will be quite special in the design and all roundedness esp as merc seems dead cert in restoring their premium leader image.
Lets c wht members can come up with from now....

There's a photoshop of the what the next generation CLK might look like in the Autobild magazine I bought a few hours ago. I'll scan it first thing tomorrow because I just disconnected my scanner and I need to go now. Come back here tomorrow! :t-cheers: :D

I beleive making it a mini CL would be enough to please the world.

The photoshop in the Autobild magazine of the next generation doesn't look like the CL at all. Come back tomorrow and check out the picture I will scan! :D

C, can you also provide some info (or even scans) about X5 vs. Q7 vs. Cayenne test in last week issue of AutoBild? ;)

My thing is whether or not it will be a hardtop convertible this time around. Everyone else except Audi is doing it. The next CLK really needs to pick up where the W208 left off, because the W209 has never been a true star for Mercedes.

Whats the codename for the upcoming clk? and shouldnt we be at least seeing prototypes by now, even with the new DPT and all? It will have to be good

The current CLK is the C209 and the convertible is the A209. I can't see the next CLK as being labelled as the "210" because of the W210 E-Class, so a new number will probably be designated.

ADDED THE CLK SCANS!
:t-cheers:

I'll do it tonight but scanning entire pages from Autobild is a pain since they're bigger than my scanner.

We were advised last year that the next generation CLK Coupe is designated C207 and is due in 2009. The next generation CLK Cabriolet was not mentioned (too far away from launch) but will presumably be A207.

That's a "step backwards" in a sense. The last generation CLK was known as the C208 / A208. :eek2:

Where did you hear this news about the "C207"? :t-cheers:

i like those scans would love it to be something like that, cause that is both classy in normal mode, and looks to be potentially agressive in AMG guise..:D

Those aren't Hucklefeldt's impressions right? Futher more I don't like them and strongly doubt that the CLK will get quad head lights, they are reserced for the new E.
