COVID-19 Coronavirus General Thread

COVID-19 news, discussion, developments, public health updates, and community conversation.
that offence is too quickly taken at everything, and that people should be able to say what they want...that is until it's something HE finds offence in, apparently.

Mick's offence to the statement hasn't included demanding moderation action, nor is he in the habit of attaching personal insults to his retorts, and he's kept his response within the confines of this thread... there's definitely far worse examples when it comes to how to take offence.

Anyway, this is the 'Covid-19' thread... not the 'each other' thread.. so can we get this at least vaguely back on topic?

Fully vaccinated at last.
although I am selling my COVID protection pod.

Sure came in handy during the pandemic. Those extendable arms were great in trying to get a pack of toilet rolls. But also provided overall protection when out for supplies. It’s a HAL operated system. Although a bit self-aware for its own liking. Although not as crazy as a humanity hating Cyberdene or Tesla model.

Today I had the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. No side effects yet.

The mRNA vaccines usually provoke a minimal perceptible first dose immune reaction. Often none at all (which was the case with my wife and I). It's the second dose upon which the immune reaction can become (at least a bit) more uncomfortable.

You are aware that the illnesses you are listing have had vaccines developed, perfected and streamlined for them for years or even decades, have achieved an extremely high rate of effectiveness and an extremely low rate of averse side-effects, let alone death rate, and can therefore be legitimately required as compulsory, right?

There is no possible comparison with a completely new type of medicine that is one year old, hasn't undergone and accumulated nearly the same extent of testing and empirical evidence over time, and is currently resulting in a spike of vaccine-related deaths and overall sudden deaths according to official numbers, including teens and children who would otherwise have had an extremely high chance of beating this virus naturally? Calling a completely new tech a "vaccine" (because that's how it was imagined to work) doesn't magically turn it into the same type of product as the traditional vaccines we've known about for decades, therefore cannot blindly and automatically generate the same legal consequences as the latter, which is why informed consent becomes key (more on this later).

As for the ignoramouses invoking a consensus among "experts", would the inventor of mRNA vaccines himself Dr. Robert Malone, would the former Pfizer vice-president and chief science officer Michal Yeadon, would the Nobel Prize winner virologist Pr. Luc Montagnier (who has had a key role in discovering and studying the HIV), to name just a few, qualify as such?

I just hope that you have a defense mechanism like maybe a wall that you build where the virus can’t infect you until you mull on the benefits and risks of the SARS - cov19 vaccines.

Maybe if you ask really nicely it may leave you alone

What is the protection that Biontech, for example, provides against the Delta variant?

What is the protection that Biontech, for example, provides against the Delta variant?
With the BNT162b2 [Pfizer/Biontech] vaccine, the effectiveness of two doses was 93.7% (95% CI, 91.6 to 95.3) among persons with the alpha variant and 88.0% (95% CI, 85.3 to 90.1) among those with the delta variant.

Had my second vaccination 28 hours ago, so far so good. Apparently the worse the first one is, the better the second is.

I've heard it was the other way around, I know a couple of people who pretty sick after the second dose.

My wife and I had our second vaccinations on Tuesday, now we are waiting to see if her boobs grow, its supposed to be one of the side effects of the Pfizer vaccine.

From what I've heard the people who felt okay after the first are in for an ordeal after the second. The people who had the ordeal first time round will find the second a breeze.

Both of mine were pretty much fine. The chap administering the second dose said if the first one was alright, the second one would be. This was the AZ jab.

... and my boobs didn't grow.

Been fully vaccinated [Pfizer] since the end of March, no side effects whatsoever. May need a booster soon I'm betting. ?Delta and Delta plus are scary as F ?

You guys are so lucky, lol. My both jabs were "such fun". 1st AZ, and 2nd Pfizer - both came (few hours after vaccination) with a massive headache, joint & muscle pain, sleepiness, fatigue, chills, high temperature (39oC / 102oF) for two days. And then a few additional days of fatigue. But such immune system reaction is typical for me. Getting such reaction every time I get flu or any other nastier cold.

P.S.: no larger boobs here as well ;)
