Coming to NevadaJack's Garage

Read the letter and look at the list of affected options at the bottom...now do you agree there is a problem and someone screwed up? Read the shifting of orders from April to August in some cases. Some people placed their names on waiting lists early last year, they placed their orders on opening day and some may not get their cars until Fall...that is a lot longer than 6 Weeks...how about over a year!

It is not a case of whether they need a new car or not...MB announced the car, priced the options and took orders with the standard 6 weeks delivery. Do you feel that unless a buyer "needs" a new car he should be obliged to bow to the manufacturers timeframe, regardless of how long it is? I exercised my option and said NO WAY MB. More may do the same...if not they will never send the message.

Ok, I've read the letter again. To me it is saying that so many people have ordered maxed out S-Classes that they aren't taking any more orders for fully loaded cars? Yes this is a problem for those walking into the dealer now or who ordered after the cutoff date, but aren't the buyers who ordered before the cutoff date still going to get their cars in May/June instead of March/April? It is also saying that Netstar will be updated this coming Thursday, the 2nd of March. It looks the jury is still out until March 2nd, to my understanding of that letter? Though I'd be curious to know what caused this since the car has been in production since like August for Europe.

Yeah...it has me upset...more because MB's management is still shaky. This should never have become an issue. And you are right about the 2007 in the beginning of 2006...wonder what marketing expert came up with that idea?

I was impressed with the Lexus presentation on their site and there is no question they are going for the throat against the S and MB. Whether I could make the change will depend on where the S is in the fall and what a test drive of the LS460L will do for me. I love the S430 and suffering with it until a new S (with my selected options rather than a take it or leave it MB selection) will not be a hardship.

"Clear mind and cool of blood" ...like that Snake...:-)
Jack I am shocked - I remember this post from a week ago.

Oh brother....

MB may have had a bad year or two but Dieter will return the 3 Pointed Star in spades. The 3 Pointed Star is "The Force" Matt (or it is Luke) and Dieter knows how to use The Force, unlike his predecessor. Anyone who switches to a Lexus from a MB usually does it because they have reached their limit financially and need a copy for less money...I think they call them knockoffs...LOL

Now why did you have to go and dig that up....:-)

It takes a humble man to admit that his favorite company made a boo-boo. I have to admit the new LS460L looks like a fine automobile (still a hint of MB) and in the heat of the night I may think that is my solution. But in the long term I will probably end up with a S550 but they had better get their act together, which I think Dieter in the longer term will do. Schremp really messed up the supplier relationship.

He he :D , I thought you would come to your senses Jack.

As much as they hate to admit, every time a Lexus driver pulls up at the traffic lights and looks across to see a Mercedes S class next to him (or her), we all know which car they would really rather be driving.

Brochure Cover for S550

Had to post this...Andorite Grey with standard 18" wheels. From the cover image of the S Class Brochure. Yes I still love it and will eventually have one in my garage.:icondrool
