Colin McRae & Son Dead

My blood literally ran cold when I saw this thread. He was a great driver, watching that video just confirms it. He is absolutely fearless, and he has survived countless serious crashes in his motorsport days, it seems like he can surivie anything. But it wasn't to be. Tragic news

Farewell Mr. McRae
.

According to Daily Mail:

The 39-year-old driver was thought to be at the controls of the French-built Squirrel helicopter with his son Johnny, five, as a passenger when it crashed a mile from the family farm in Lanarkshire just after 4pm.

Chelsea's vice president was killed last month after a helicopter of the same company broke down.

Things like that happen all of a sudden. You won't imagine it, until it happens. This world is really f***ed up! Colin was definitely on of the best wrc drivers in the world.:usa7uh: Rest In Peace.:cry2:

Notice the helicopter was made by the french??? Bad engineering can be to balm, Because it dont think it was his flying, he had been flying 4 a couple of years now

This is truly a sad day. We have lost a legend. My deepest sympathy is with his family.

A man of great skill and many talents, McRae will be sorely missed, and mourned, by fans and friends the world over.

It's even more tragic that his younger son was involved.

My condolences to his family and friends. I wish all the strength to his wife and daughter to overcome this tragedy.

He had no fear and that what it made him a true Rally driver legend.

R.I.P Colin McRae. You will be deeply missed.

Let's hope this doesn't cripple his wife financially. That would make this story even more tragic. There were other passengers onboard his helicopter, which Colin owned and likely flew. I wouldn't be surprised if the family of other victims sued his estate. It's happened before.

Graham Hill died in a plane crash and his estate was sued. His widow and young son (Damon Hill) had to sell their house to pay the damages. I think they were left with a mountain of bills and next to nothing after they had all been paid.

vroom_vroom, you better be super careful making a comment about the engineering of the helicopter like that. Aviation experts haven't pieced together the wreckage yet. No one knows what happened, but you assumed it can be engineering and not Colin's flying. Be careful. I'm not saying you can get sued, but I just don't want you looking for any avoidable inconvenience.

Oh sorry...i didnt realize at the time ....im just going along with the stereo typical sayings about french engineering and because another of the same type of helicopter went down...Im sorry

R.I.P.

The Days After: Mourning Colin McCrae (1968 - 2007)

A little over a day after a tragic helicopter accident has claimed the life of famous rally driver Colin McRae and three others, including his 5-year-old son Johnny, fans and members of motorsport alike are paying tribute to the legend with kind words. With perhaps the most fitting gesture so far, the Scottish Subaru Impreza Drivers Club formed a parade of Subarus outside of McRae's home in Lanark, Scotland, leaving a makeshift shrine and a note that said, among other sentiments, "May you enjoy going 'flat out' in God's special stage." Well known drivers in other types of motorsport also followed the career of McRae, and those who have commented on his death include Formula One driver David Coulthard, legend himself Jackie Stewart, and MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi.
