CLK-Class (C209) CLK63 AMG Black Series!

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.
HAHA! The truth hurts...
BTW I stopped reading right when you claimed the V10 revvs to 10k rpm. :t-rot:

Sorry to disapoint you, but it does rev. to 10k RPMs (and beyond, but 10000 is safe), it's just that it's limited to 8250 rpm.

That comes from BMW AG and was comfirmed by people who have derestricted M5 and M6 cars.

Check out mbworld forums. The 63 engine is not making anywhere near the claimed 500+hp. All the dynos have been along 370 -380 whp which doesn't translate to 500bhp.

OMG, what is this BS ?!
Has this becomed the bash_the_S85 - praise_the_V8 tread ?!

Whatever you say, Imhotep Evil.......If you think the stuff I've posted is BS, then your biases are truly blinding you to even the possibility that Mercedes/AMG can build a technically advanced engine.

I am not bashing the 5.0L V10. But I was trying to convince you that the 6.2L V8 is pretty damn good too, but you just refuse to acknowledge any of that. I think the only thing you will accept is the notion that BMW M engines must be better than anything AMG can ever make. :t-hands:

I've never claimed that the V8 is crap or anything. I think it's a great engine, but I do not belive that the S85 is shamed by it either (that was my point BTW, not that the V8 is crap or that AMG can't build an advanced engine).

But for the claims that the V8 in the M5, M6 makes for better cars I find that bogus.

And nobody seems to understand the S85 - SMG III relationship (and how it compensate for the lower torque and greater weight).

Let me ask you a question.

Consider you're an enthusiats. Now you could chose between a Porsche/BMW M or an AMG B.S. . The Porsche/BMW M have a proven reputation build thru decades, and their car (way) is cheaper, and with some proper tyres (think P Zero Corsas) could offer similar or better performance (on a track at least; think SLK55 B.S.).
Would chose the (cheaper) Porsche/BMW M car or the AMG B.S. ?!
(remember enthusiast, not drag boy or cruiser boy)

I'd choose a Mercedes because I want one, not because someone with a one-track mind dismisses a Mercedes because it isn't superior at the track.

Apperntly now even Mazda's are superior on the track. Seriously, I can understand a S or a E class being slower, but, heck, the CLK is a sports coupe.

And apparently they're still crap on the road, and I wouldn't give two lugnuts about a Mazda posting a faster lap time, they're still not 1/2 the car a Mercedes is.

You don't get the context.

As an enthusiast you're not into MBs, in fact you're suspicious of MBs.
MB AMG has have to come up with something terific on a racetrack too (both performance and involvment/conection), to convince you to chose it over Porsche/BMW M cars.
And if for the for the same or less money the competition gives you something better, than mission failed.

still i dont really care about track..i never track my cars..
if i would i would buy a zonda or such..
and i really belive that AMG cars more or less blows the doors off 90% of the cars on the roads.. when it comes to normall roads..

i can not sacrifice the superb ride of MB ( wich helps me everyday) for track capability ( wich might help me 1 day)...
If MB in the future comes up with a way to have both.. i will be glad..

Well that is your "what if" scenario. If I were such a hard-core enthusiast then I'd pic some hardcore track car of course, but in my real world I'm an "enthusiast" that likes nearly all brands of cars or at least something from most brands. IMO there is no way you be such an high and mighty enthusiast and not have something from Mercedes on your wish list.

I believe Car makers usually state crank HP, and a dyno test is typically WHP, hence the reported numbers may be translating to 24% loss across the drivetrain.

Re: CLK-DTM Part II!

Where are we with this car, it hasn't been talked about or shown on the spy circuit in months? Any of you insiders have anything?

I mentioned the car in the Geneva thread and we haven't seen any spy shots for quite a while. My teory is that the test phase might be over. Geneve suprise maybe?

Re: CLK-DTM Part II!

That would be nice, but I think something like this they'll wait for the home show, Frankfurt. Either way I can't wait to see this car!
