4 Series Chris Harris drives the new BMW 4 Series Coupe

The BMW 4 Series is a range of compact executive cars manufactured by BMW since 2013. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series.

With the press drives of the all new BMW 4 series beginning these days, we were really looking forward to watching Chris Harris drive one. And so does he, in the video below, in Portugal. His first impression was that the 4er is generally more sportier than the 3 series, yet the name is "plain wrong". He also said good words about the ZF 8 speed automatic gearbox and the optional adjustable suspension.

Yet, according to CH, this 435i comes across as a bit uninteresting. It's a fast and discreet car, but the "normalness" of it all disappoints. Mr. Harris compared the 435i to the M135i, saying that the bigger coupe has a better chassis and everything feels grown up, despite the less torque. In the end, he concludes that despite driving so well, the 4 series feel very ordinary.

Maybe this was BMW's target, to make the 4 series a very mature vehicle. For those that want something extra, a wide range of performance parts and accessories will be available, at a considerable price, though.

You can watch the video after the jump.
