Chris Bangle : GINA meets Pink.

how could bmw ever let him go ?
in times like this someone who has so much creativity to offer is priceless

Yes he is very frequently in Munich and consults with the design and now the marketing departments of BMW.
He has contributed some thoughts into the MegaCity Vehicle and other concepts. Chris Bangle was still with BMW when the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept was conceived.

He has contributed some thoughts into the MegaCity Vehicle and other concepts. Chris Bangle was still with BMW when the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept was conceived.

Was he really? He left February 2009 and Vision Concept started January 2009 till August 2009, based on what the two designers told me.

The chosen concept for Vision Efficient Dynamics became active in that time but the design was conceived when Bangle was still with BMW.
Bangle steered the brief when the engineers laid down the technical structure of the Vision Efficient Dynamics.
Cars that are due or have just been released were under the guidance of both Bangle and Hooydunk , If Bangle had stayed on he would be the public face of these cars now it is down to Adrian to take over the spotlight.

His TED appearance was completely convincing and he did capture the audience at the BMW Museum with his talk and he does come by to give an opinion , tells you how he feels about the concept, not a yes or no but more how he expresses the idea and purpose.

You will not see a completely Bangle free car for about another three years, as all the models were under his guidance.
Because of his interest in design and architecture he sends pictures and brief notes of locations - Bangle was behind using the Milwaulkee art musuem for the 5er Gran Turismo. I suggested Whales breaching :D.
He also told us of a new modern location of a waterside restaurant in Amalfi Italy where the 6er Cabrio is.
I have heard the food is great.

You talk like somehow the entire BMW misses Bangle, is the company sure that it was the right decission to let him go?.

Since Bangle was close to 60 and thus close to retirement from managerial position @ BMW Group, it was a wise decision to let Bangle go independent, and hire him as an outside consultant. That could be the only way to keep Bangle close to the company without sending him to retirement, or to some other car company eventually. :t-hands:
