Charger Chicago 2011: 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

The Dodge Charger is a model of automobile marketed by Dodge in various forms over eight generations since 1966. The first Charger was a show car in 1964. A 1965 Charger II concept car resembled the 1966 production version. In the United States, the Charger nameplate has been used on mid-size cars, personal luxury coupes, subcompact hatchbacks, and full-size sedans.
Obviously you are not a fan of the classic then, because if you were you wouldn't be caring if it were ugly or not. Looks is subjective on many levels. And it also has to do with popularity, which the Aztek was not at all popular. So comparing the two in regards to styling is moot. Public appeal is that it is good, obviously individuals will disagree. I think its 100% better than the first effort of the last few years as it ties right in with the older muscle cars as historic indicator of a time.

I love classic cars, even more than actual cars. But for me a car becomes a classic by one of two reasons: 1) groundbreaking or 2) timeless design.

None of which I -personally- associate with the Dodge Charger. Literally, dozen of cars of the period come to my mind as "classics" before the Charger.

Please note, I didn't say "rear end" looks horrible, I said bumper. Also, I fail to see where the bumper of the actual car looks "exactly" to the old Chargers.

I respect your opinion if you think both, old and new car looks nice, like you well said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, they were not and are not nice designs.

Finally, I don't think popularity is a measure of beauty, as Bangle era Bimmers were the most popular yet, and at the same time, for most BMW's enthusiast, the uglier. Same case to Hyundai's actual design theme.

Un abbraccio.

I love the retro feel of the rear LED lights that run all along the rear fascia. Hopefully, there are big improvements in the interior fit, finish and quality to match the looks of the exterior.

Not bad at all. I just don't think the interior is all that. If you look at one of the pictures that were posted, the interior screen that has carbon fiber around it looks sooo cheap it reminds me of riced up cars that you see at shows.

I dont think I said they look "exact". I was referencing the general styling cues. And its going to be different today than it was 50 years ago, thats a given. I for one dont think the back end detracts from the car overall to warrant not buying one though, just my opinion. For me thats the fact that its an automatic only car. And yes, I do love the old style of the cars. For most that grew up around these cars, its more than just outward looks, its a memory, a frame of mind, or a time that has the connected feeling with the car. The old Charger is an icon for the muscle car days for a reason. It evoked something of that day that lives on to now. Weather you see it or not, the vast majority do, and that is where the term "icon" or "classic" in that sense come from.
