911 (997) Carfection: Porsche 911 CSR(997)

The Porsche 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car manufactured and sold by the German automobile manufacturer Porsche. It was sold between 2004 (for the 2005 model year) and 2013.
I also am a fan of the 997 generation. I'd start with a simple Carrera S one, used. No custom works, no extreme pricing, though.

If only I had a couple more years of financial and pandemic stability...

Yep-I also like the "keeping it simple" route when it comes to the 997.

THIS one would be perfect for me:

Not to mention that a lot of the stuff that can be seen (from this video). It doesn't look that impressive? IMO to spend THAT much money, you could buy a 997 and get it tastefully modded (or DIY with some patience) better and cheaper than what's done here.

The car in the video is a full conversion car. CSR's upgrades are modular. You can choose mechanical upgrades without any cosmetic changes.

A full conversion is £30,000 but you can spend £15-20k on upgrades that will breath new life into a 997. This includes KW coilovers, powerflex bushes and other quality components that CSR fine tune to achieve a certain characteristic.

It's a great alternative to buying a GT3 or a very expensive 991 or 992 CS that might feel a bit too sanitised for some.

The work CSR do is top notch and shouldn't be mistaken for wacking H&R springs and an ECU tune on a 997 and calling it a day.

Oh, no. I understand what CSR does. I'm not saying they're just some random tuner. All I'm saying is that for the amount of money they're asking for, you're still getting a "profile" that they developed. For THAT kind of money, I would rather get my own components and get a trusty shop to customize it for me exactly the way I like it. It's not like CSR is making custom components here that you cannot get anywhere else. It's still stuff that anyone has access to.

The carbon fiber bumper is £4,000 and ducktail £1,700. Outside of that every other component that CSR sell is sensibly priced. The lower arms, anti rollbars and suspension are manually adjustable so the premium paid is having them setup up right for demanding British roads.

These parts are from KW, Eibach and other known manufacturers. However CSR don't order parts to custom specification.

Hahaha. We're basically saying the same thing my man. The only thing different I'm saying is that I would rather get the same stuff from my own guy and have it done my way. ;)
