I am happy that the EV Cayman keeps the same basic shape and dimensions as the current ICE Cayman. It is instantly recognizable as a compact Porsche coupe. What I am really curious about is how much weight it has packed on due to the batteries and EV powertrain and whether this has a negative effect on the ICE model class leading dynamics.

I heard the batteries are behind the seats, which is not perfect for the weight distribution.

The Boxster/Cayman EVs are promising to look splendid. However, it is questionable how the market will accept them. Apparently, the tech is quite exciting and may show some advancements vis-a-vis that of the J1.2 Taycans or PPE vehicles. I'd be delighted should they succeed. Whether they actually will may be another story altogether.

Given their history with premium pricing, plus the high cost for options.......I am assuming pretty expensive all-in.

I sure hope Porsche will release an ICE version later, or I have bad news for them. This segment has been on the last stages of life support, this being EV only will be the nail on the coffin.

Yeah, Porsche should better wait for solid state batteries which are light and store more energy. But if they give it 400km of range and reasonable price it won't be too bad.

To be fair, the upcoming EV M3 will make the Cayman look light.
