Chances for the S-Class? Is it too much of an exclusive car?

S class obviously, but they count in the value for cash.

So i think it will be some small car

Model S, i3, or Cayman. Personal choice: Cayman.

Sidenote: Recently sat in a Model S....rather impressive interior and overall even more of an impressive set-up for a start-up company.

I think the S-Class might have a better chance this year than expensive cars usually do... the strongest mainstream offering is perhaps the Octavia, but since the Golf won this year I figure its chances are rather slim.

Value for money should be measured relative to the competition within the class and not relative to other vehicles not in the class nor in terms of absolute cost to purchase. If the S-class delivers a convincing value equation relative to a 7-series, A8 etc. then there should be no problem.

Sadly, that logic escapes most motoring journals.

^ All definitely gone, IMO. Of course, if it was actually based on excellence in the cars' class/segment, the S-Class and Cayman would be the top 2 candidates.

Slim, it's just too expensive. i3 could be, but it's probably too expensive already...

if the i3 wins ile eat my hat

You know what we are going to demand :D
i3 better wins!

And the i3? It's in a class with the Zoe (sort of) :D

Shared 1st place between W222 and i3 for me.
And for owning, it would be between Cayman and 4er.

Honestly the W222 just deserves it IMHO. And just now in my lifetime I hope it does, the 'sparky' e-cars can get their turn some time in the future, really.;)

I don't know, it is more of the same, just more refined. I see more special cars in that list really

I agree 100% that is more of the same BUT the refinement went 'overboard' and the tech + innovations + greener credentials makes it worthy of being a leader in more ways than..."i" IMO. For the same reasons and more I hope comes judgement time in the future the F15 will do the same. I just don't want, for now, that any plug-in deserves to win anything. These cars has not proven to be "the ultimate solution" only time will tell - and ONLY then can they deserve a title worth being: "Car of the year."

Fair, I think!?:)

Tesla S. Just for the fact that a new comer with almost no history or pedigree of making cars made a world class car. The fact it is more innovative, more environment friendly than by a significant margin than almost every thing else in the list and yet a performer just makes it a slam dunk!
