I was just wandering if this trend was popular in other parts of the world? Over here in Southern Africa, they come out with interesting names for 'cult' cars. Most of the names are come up with by people living in the townships and the nicknames/slang are basically how they are generally referred to. I think they are pretty hilarious. Here a few examples:

Toyota Tazz - "Starter Pack" (upon purchase of a new cellphone, one has to purchase a starter pack which is basically a sim card which enables to you to make/recieve calls, and since the Toyota Tazz is (was) the cheapest and one of the most common cars you can buy in South Africa, hence the name starter pack)

I thought only people in the Middle East had nicknames for cars.
From what I remember, only MB nicknames:

W124 - The Rabbit
W126 - The Alligator
W140 - The Ghost
W210, W211 - The four-eyed
W220 - Viagra (LOL for real)
W221 - Panorama (Don't know why??)

In Romania : E30: "teddy bear, or little bear"
. E36: " the kitty" " the pussy", the first 6er is " the shark". Mercedes s class W140 : " the whale", MB E class W123 its called "cobra". E class W210 "the gypsy E". Audi A6 from 2004-2011 is called " the spanish".

In Serbia the Mercedes W140 is called "Slon" translated it means Elefant.
And Smart is called Smrt (dead).

In SA (nativ Afrikaans that in turn has Dutch and Belgium origin)

BMW = Blik Met Wiele - that translates into "Tin With Wheels"

BMW = Blink Maar Windgat - that translates into "Shiny but full of him/herself.

^ Think maybe Klier will understand those better.

BMW Weather!? = Baby Making Weather, when it's cloudy and rainy...get it!?:D

Yes and that nickname spread to all S classes.
I think that "slon" nickname ( Elephant ) is best suitable for the W140. :D

Seems to be a lot of South African's in this group makes me feel proud. The Mercedes Benz A45 AMG is referred to as "Apenis" in the townships a males organ is called 4-5.
