M3/M4 CAR Magazine - Countdown to BMW M3 day

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

stacks up against rivals??
does this mean a 3 way battle with the RS4 and C63??:D

Eeeww... Over share!

Haha you have to admit, the thought of the 3 cars going head to head is enticing. Whoever ends up last in the shoot out will undoubtedly spark a huge fight here.

Btw, what's up with this crazy weather Martin? I'm freezing here in Rosslyn

I can already give you the excuses -

BMW fan - "hey, it is more fun to drive"
Merc fan - "it is a better everyday car"
Audi fan - "it has better interior"

^so true.. atleast about the BMW and MB fans

:D :D :D

This is one of the most pleasant winters I can remember - not crazy freezing below zero all the time and with more cloud cover than is typical for a normal highveld clear-skies winter's day! I'm loving this winter...

Can you really see anyone of these machines coming last in any test? It's a concept I can't get my mind around...

One thing's for sure though, this new M3 is going to be a cracker. 400 Nm and all...

How's the work coming along in Rosslyn? Care to show me around the plant one day? ;)

This has easily been the coldest winter I've had in Pretoria and I've been here 4 times already. Plus what's up with the traffic nowadays. I leave for 2 years and now it's definitely getting worst.

I do agree with you though. There's not going to be a last place, all these cars are truely magnificent.

BMW is treating me great as usual. I really do enjoy waking up in the morning and coming here. I work in the metrology lab and I've learned something pretty much everyday. You know how they say BMW is falling behind in terms of quality and whatnot? I can vouch that attention to details is there. I work with millimeters everyday. Btw, I think plant tours are R50, but free if you don't go for refreshments. I'll find the link and send it to you. Cheers mate.

PS I want to go to Gerotek bad!

Please us Audi fans are in a perfect position. If the RS4 gets smacked, well we were waiting for the next generation anyway, and if it remains on top then the story will be, "You guy's at Mercedes and BMW had all this time to get yourself's together and still couldn't topple the mighty RS4?":D

But MB and BMW fans mostly don't care much about Audi. Mercedes fans worry about what BMW does, and BMW fans worry about Mercedes does.
Audi always comes later with something in between.

^true.. Audis strategy of timeing behind the RS cars..is totally out of balance..i refuse to understand it

But what you don't seem to get Klier is that know one cares what a fan thinks! Your a BMW fan, and I'm a fan of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW's new X5, Who cares? This is about cars not fans if you follow. I was merely address previous post made by Sunny, and Artist!;)

P.S I sure find it odd that so many BMW and Mercedes fans spend as much time as they do responding in Audi threads, considering that they're not concerned about what Audi's doing!:usa7uh:

Warot, my boet...

Traffic is beyond mad these days: that's what happens when you put half a million passenger and commercial cars on the road every year.

Gerotek? That can be arranged. But surely with your BMW association you can get to do some track time there? If you wanna try some Scoobs tho' I can make a plan!

[P.S. Mods, sorry for the OT...]

the words from CAR magazine editor Ben Barry about M3 V8:

It's very good. I'd still say the E46 CSL is the ultimate driver's M3 though.

Who the hell is Ben Barry and what happened to that twit Jason Barlow? Is he no longer the editor for CAR? I stopped reading CAR about a year ago because it's kak. CARsmopolitan.

His rather non-commital assertion doesn't really tell me much either.

People, take note of Just_me's avatar! Dang. Never thought I'd see the day.

Andreas, you need to renew your Prozac prescription.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
