Vs Car & Driver (RS5 vs M3 vs CTS-V)

^
Yes, you are right, it is M3 Competition.

Is it the vid, or does the M3 really sound better (for me "better" means motorsport) than the two others?

My personal classification:
1. M3
2. RS5
...very far behind...
3. CTS-V

This could be an interesting test - mostly on account of the CTS-V, I have no idea how it compares to the others.

My thoughts exactly and one of the reasons for posting this. American mag with an American car, against two Germans, one which is very successful in the States and one which is trying to be.

Heaven knows what the outcome will be but on a purely raw figures I think the Caddy will be brutal.

For once I am in agreement, the M3 sounds the best here. Though as always I don't agree that it's a distance second.

My take on each is this.

M3: Most focus, rawest experience but with a beautiful balance of control, the ultimate entertainer.
RS5: Highly accomplished, brutally efficent, a wonderful balance between refinement and aggression but ultimately lacking in excitement.
CTS-V: Mega powerful, highly entertaining, a bit wild but without the polish of the other two.

I think what you said about the CTS-V, fits better the C 63 AMG. I am not saying the CTS-V is a bad car, but for me, as a europeen, it does not really excite me. I like the sharp design, but not the hatch coupé shape. + of the CTS-V is the price. In fact why does the CTS-V Coupé compete against M3 and not M6, if the CTS-V Sedan competes against M5?

Ok, Its just that C&D is an american carmag and I thought the test was done in US.

A fair assumption. :t-cheers: But I am pretty sure like DeDe that this is the very M3 used by SA and might well be the same RS5 too.

As you can see in the vid, they drove on the German Autobahn, so at least a part of the test was done in Germany.

Don't take the CTS-V lightly boys. Don't underestimate that car, for it has shown to be very good time and time again.

I agree with you, the CTS-V is a good car that is often underestimated.
For me it is a contender for "next-car"

No doubt CTS-v is the quickest car with all the power it got but its not a beauty.

Really?

No doubt CTS-v is the quickest car with all the power it got but its not a beauty.

I think the beauty of that car IS in the power it holds. LOL But then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And out of these 3, the S5 is the best looking (IMO) but I'd still take that M3 without hesitation.
