So no MP4-12C ? Motor Trend cannot get a Ferrari 458 for their Best Driver car but Car & Driver gets one and no Mc Laren. That's a pity on R&T could do a direct face to face in the US. Impressive gap between the Ferrari and the LFA though. Also, surprised to see the C Class BS faster than the 911... Is this a power track ?

3280 lbs test weight for 458??

The 458 Italia test weight has never been this light. Looks like a stripped down base version was given to C&D. In their previous test, it was 3460 lbs.

The old Jag shows its German rivals how its done. There's life in the old dog yet. lol

Plus the RS5 nearly beat the mighty Boxster S, that's super impressive.

Three very different cars within the blink of an eye:

Porsche Boxster S - 3.04.2
Audi RS5 - 3.04.3
BMW M6 - 3.04.7

1,495 Kgs, older test was 1,530-1,540 Kgs, latest about 1,505.... Maybe is a really new 458 with some tech-improvment..

Chevy Camaro ZL1 quicker than a hardcore track car like C63 Black Series. Isnt that a shocker?

I was talking about these tests. The price as tested in these loaded optioned out cars is close to $290,000 and the weight in the 3450 - 3470 lbs region. Both of which are much lower in the C&D test and fall in line with the base model price/weight.

Anyway, just an observation.

"this 458 weighs +33Lbs than previus 458 we tested. >$50,000 probably save some weight, but not enough to offste the also optional front-lifter"

It's not at all surprising to find the only two supercars present producing the quickest lap times, what's really shocking is how much quicker the 458 is over the LFA. Has Ferrari really moved the yardstick that far ahead?

The scan article explains it well enough (if you read it). Crash waiver or the lack thereof being the biggest factor they left a lot on the table since Lexus could not provide them with a press car and they had to respect the wishes of the LFA owner who wanted his car to be safe (because Jeremy Clarkson has been using the press LFA for an upcoming Top Gear show).

It is more like the LFA (as indicated in the article) lap time fell short. 2:55 is very average laptime for supercars on that track.

Ferrari had sent a full team of engineers, a trailer full of computer equipment, simulations run on the night before etc. and they were serious about winning this.

Not to take away anything, it was an absolute delight to read the whole article and great win for the Ferrari.
