CLS-Class (C219) Can Anyone Estimate When The New CLS Will Come Out?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could give me a decent educated guess on when the new CLS will come out. I want to buy the currently CLS next June *2008* for my 21st birthday BUTTT I want the shape to be current model for at least 2 years from june 2008. As in i dont want the car if (within 2 years from june 2008) the car gets dropped off production because a new CLS came into play. Thanks in advance - Mickey

Well it was released in 04.. given that it gets a normall life cycle of a MB modell the new one should arrive 6 years from 04 meaning 2010...
and you can expect a Face lift sometime this year..
so if you in 08 get the FL'ed modell you should be good for another 2-3 years..

Yeah that sounds about right, also given that the new E-class, off which the new CLS would be based, arrives in 09.

Yeah in the 2010-11 timeframe. It came to the U.S. for the 2006 model year and should go until the 2011 model year I guess. Seems like a long time, but we'll be looking as spy photos and what not in no time.

Hi MicketTER, welcome to GCF.

Hard to say which quarter the new CLS should come out. You can't go wrong with the current one though.

I've driven the CLS350, CLS500 and CLS320 CDI and they're all wonderful cars. Yesterday I was at the local Mercedes-Benz dealership and they had a smokesilver CLS350 up there with beautiful rims, I wanted to buy that baby on the spot. Of course, I didn't have the money.

Thanks all for your information, very much apperciated. I guess its because im still young (19) and im saving up for a bad ass car when i turn 21 i just feel if the CLS was to change shape 1 year after i would feel pretty crappy. I want the car to still be in current models if that makes sense, but again thanks for all of your help

yeah i had some rough times within the last 2 years but im hoping a sweet ride will make up for it by the way "daddy" isnt buying this or anything im saving up every penny and earning it. The new m3 is also something im considering but i really really do not like the way the license plate is going to be on the bumper. i just feel it ruins the car IMO. what do you think?

I know this car is up for a facelift likely for 2008, but I can't imagine what they're going to do to it. It is a masterpiece as is. The interior ushered back in the type of interiors Mercedes should have never stopped making. The styling is ridiculous, what could possibly be changed? Other than the grille going from 4 slats to 3 and some tailamps/headlight changes I don't see what else they can do. We might get a CLS350 here in the U.S. and there was talk of a V12 CLS600 at one point?

I'm not sure, this is all purely guesswork. Since the car came out in 05' as an 06 here in the U.S. I suspect that for either 2008 or 2009 model year it will get a facelift. I'm thinking that if we don't see anything on it at Geneva (March) or Frankfurt (Sept) then it may be well into 2008. It all depends on how long they're going to let the current CLS body run. They may make it short like the first generation CLK which got a facelift after only 2 years, or they may make it long like the E-Class. We should know something at Geneve or Frankfurt and if they don't mention the CLS then it will be sometime in 2008, could be Detroit, Geneva again or even Paris.

the cls was a once off test design 2 feel the waters...if the car is a sales success there will be a replacement...im not sure if they will continue with this model as it might steal sales of the upcoming E..

it was the best car i ever owned in my life...without a doubt

unfortunately or stupidly i sold it to get a bigger car for my family
