Le Mans return possible in 2016
AutoSprint has managed to obtain what appears to be a photograph depicting Ferrari's upcoming LMP1 racer for Le Mans.

At the end of November a video emerged and at that point most people believed Ferrari was testing the new turbocharged V6 for the company's 2014 Formula 1 contender. That car has now returned and by the looks of things we are dealing with a prototype of an LMP1 car Ferrari is planning for a Le Mans return in the next few years.

Luca di Montezemolo already expressed his interest in a LMP1 return and the car looks as you would expect for a racer in this class, with the exception of the rear carbon fiber wing. It carries several body parts from the LaFerrari and adds a roof scoop, a more prominent front splitter, center-locking racing wheels and dual canards.

AutoSprint says a Le Mans comeback for Ferrari isn't expected until 2016.

Exactly, and the wheels do give off that Maserati trident vibe. I may have recalled a rumor of a Maser version of the LaFer but maybe I made it up in my mind. :P
