Following the forum, de Nysschen will have a big show ahead of him, too. Cadillac will reveal the 2019 XT4 compact crossover at the auto show, which marks the first vehicle designed, developed and engineered under de Nyscchen. It will also provide a much needed new product at Cadillac dealerships and a contender in the compact crossover segment.

Cadillac’s star of the show will be the 2019 XT4, but we may also see an updated 2019 Cadillac CT6 bow as well.

I'll be in attendance. The XT4's launch being critical to Cadillac's future would be an understatement.

The old enthusiast in me would love to see Cadillac go "you know what, let's go back to our roots and build American land-yachts and give them memorable names like Deville and Seville". Of course we live in CUV dominated world now...

The glory days of Cadillac. This was when everyone knew you "made it" when you owned a Cadillac. This sort of advertising campaign influenced Mad Men

Having spent several childhood years in the U.S., I can certainly still recall the elevated "Cadillac Aura". Memorable is a then brand new 1961 Cadillac convertible in a medium metallic blue with white leather interior, owned by a friend (a bar owner) of my father. It fascinated this then 7-8 year old lad.

What I have noticed:
1. Metallic climate control buttons (and, apparently, on the steering wheel as well). At last :)
2. A completely new dash with a large screen between the indicators( completely electronic)
3.Multimedia Controller (as expected).
4. It seems that the right half of the panel (the passenger's side) has an unusual shape. Must be good.
5.There is no black "piano" plastic. Thanks God.
6. The central part is not finished
in this photo. A test version...

Anyway, looks very good so far.

Remember that the next gen Caddys will not copy each other,
neither inside nor outside. Unlike the germans.
The upcoming Escalade will get a totally different interior, just like the CT5 etc.

Pretty sure the screen can change its position :)

Also the central panel lacks lacks an element under the buttons. There will be smth, for sure.

That screen looks disgusting with all the smudges.

I wonder it's different kind matte black plastic sourced or the same old GM matte black plastic - the one that quickly accumulates grease smudges and fades.

It's GM they aren't going to break any new ground in interiors. Those buttons will be plastic in a car of this price, for sure.

Looks awesome. That grill is fantastic. As far as I know, there won't be a single variant of it. And this is just a beginning ☺

Well, this is rich. Audi S/RS, BMW M-sport/M, MB AMG, & Porsche would say otherwise. AMG sales up 33 percent from last year.

CEO Johan de Nysschen speaking to MotorTrend:
“It’s partially happening because of energy prices, where people are less focused on fuel consumption and sedans being lighter,” he said. “But also it’s been driven now by the entry of younger consumers who really are less tuned into dynamics and handling and all of those things that used to excite enthusiasts. It’s more about the way cars complement and enable their lifestyle now.

And candidly, I also have to say it may also be influenced a little bit by the decay of America’s infrastructure. When roads no longer support high-performance sport sedans and ultra-low-profile rubber, people are going to respond to it.”

You have to understand that GM is the king of excuse making. They have an excuse for why any and everything that they make, doesn't sell. It's pure BS each and every time. He would have you believe there are no good roads left in America to drive a performance cars, it's hilarious. GM is slowly giving up on cars, which is a mistake. Cadillac's current cars simply don't sell that well outside of the XTS and they're going replace the CTS, ATS and XTS with one car work on SUV/Crossovers, and it may work in this market, but if the market every shifts backs to cars they'll (and FCA) will be toast.

Right now they're putting all their eggs in the the XT4's basket. One can't simply enter the luxury crossover segment and expect to take big marketshare of just the released X3, hot selling GLC & NX, Macan, Q5, etc....

Who knows maybe it'll be a big success, but up to this point each new Cadillac model or re-designation have been epic sales failures (putting it lightly).

I'm actually really looking forward to checking out the XT4 in 2 weeks, since it's supposed to be the embodiment of de Nysschen's Cadillac future.

While Cadillac (and GM in general with former European Opel/Vauxhall subsidiaries now under the PSA umbrella) is (and will remain) a non-entity here in the EU, it has been making some formidable inroads in China (the sustainability of which I seriously question).

Now...enter a possible trade war: This will be absolutely devastating for GM. And despite the possibility of models such as the upcoming XT4 commanding (initial) acclaim, I find it difficult to envision legions of U.S.-American M-B and BMW customers defecting to Cadillac (despite possible additional "Trump Tariffs" being levied).

"Dare greatly" ?

Shouldn't that be "Dare BIGLY" ?

He should go drive a modern Porsche or McLaren (and I am sure M/AMG etc too)- he will be amazed at how well they ride despite being performance oriented and having ultra low profile tires. Suspension and tire technology have come a long way.
