Veyron Bugatti Veyron Crashed into Lake!

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engine sports car designed and developed in Germany by the Volkswagen Group and Bugatti, and manufactured in Molsheim, France by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti. It was named after the racing driver Pierre Veyron.

Lol...Sounds like the guy said it was a Lambo. I don't why the guy turned the camera right when it hit the water.

Good looking out! I didn't even notice that at first.

Hmmm when I see a bird in the middle of the street while in my car, I usually aim for it.
Why would someone in a car built to survive a bird strike at 250MPH put it into a lake to miss the bird?
I would have feathers all over my car before I would let it go for a swim.

[UPDATE] From Galveston County Daily News
The two-seater, with 16 cylinders and four turbo chargers, can reach speeds of more than 250 mph. New models sell for about $2 million.
The man, who refused to give his name, was looking at real estate in Galveston.
About 3 p.m. a low-flying pelican distracted him as he traveled north on Interstate 45 just south of the hurricane levee near Omega Bay.
The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car's front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon.
The Veyron's powerful engine gurgled like an outboard motor for about 15 minutes before it died.

Exactly! I can't remember how many times I've ran over annoying NYC pigeons.

To me, it looks like he aimed for that lake, if you know what I mean .

Now where are those "This is what happens when you have Quattro" ads? :D

The video that I watched simply shows a Veyron trundling along a freeway and then slowly veering off into the lake. There's nothing to indicate that the driver got a fright from something and then swerved off; just a slow, gentle deviation off the road.

To me, it looks for all the world like the type of accident that happens when a driver - either fatigued or inebriated - falls asleep behind the wheel of a car. The apparent lack of any attempt to swerve violently or step on the best brakes in the world (as any frightened driver would do) in the footage tells me that there's more to this Veyron amphibian story than we're being told.

Or it was simply a publicity stunt in the same case as with Eddie Griffin the Veyron owner's Enzo. Some people simply have too much money.

:t-cheers:

Didn't the owner read the press release material, the front grill is made from titanium mesh to protect the radiators from birds so he could have just drove straight on with no fear :D

Yea that's what I don't understand. Why do all that over a bird? I can understand if it were a moose because that would have destroyed the car, but a Bird???

I dunno what's worse, seeing that Veyron in such a condition, or seeing the sort of vehicles the Veyron is now parked with.

So we finally have our first Veyron on the used car market. Who wants to make the starting bid... anyone ?

Bugatti Bird-gate Update 2: New evidence of mystery pelican, avoidance techniques

19d6f231386d10e37ddac96c51c48fdb.webp

The case of the ill-fated Bugatti Veyron versus the invisible pelican has had the Internets buzzing for the past week. First we saw footage of the $1.6 million supercar as it was being pulled out of a Texas swamp. The story behind the dastardly crash was that a low-flying pelican caused the (at the time) un-named driver to swerve off the road and ultimately land in over two feet of watery muck.

Then, as if by some sort of miracle, a video appeared of the actual crash, and, quite frankly, we didn't see any pelican. Then we found out that the car was being driven by Andy House, the owner of Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin. PAS, as it turns out, fixes wrecked exotics, making the crash look all the more suspicious. Now, less than a week after the crash, one very patient viewer watched the video frame by frame, and there looks to be some evidence that something white was floating near the Veyron right before the accident. We don't know if the image was doctored and there is no definitive way to verify that the white smear is a pelican, but it certainly has the size and shape of the large and awkward-looking bird. Take a look at the picture above and tell us if you think there is a chance in hell that white blur is a pelican – or perhaps a bit of Photoshop magic.

In the meantime, it appears as though the Internets are beginning to have some fun with Mr. House and his ill-fated Veyron joy ride. First is a can of pelican repellent on sale at the Car Guy Garage website. Price tag? Only $2 million greenbacks. Of course, eBay isn't going to be left out of the sunken Veyron sweepstakes either, as one pioneering auctioneer has come up with the Apple AquaticAvoidanceSystem system for avoiding lakes, marshes, channels, bays and any other body of water. AAS.... very clever. The starting bid price is a far more manageable $800, but you're buying a pair of Apple ear buds so that next you don't blame a hapless bird for dropping your iPhone and driving into a marsh. Happy bidding, Veyron owners!

Can't believe this happened ten years ago.
Anyway, Ed of VinWiki almost bought it and Tavarish was gonna bring it back to life (it would have taken him another 10 years lol)
