Bugatti La Voiture Noire

now that bugatti has made their first one-off do you think other billionaires will request one-offs?

ferrari has a history of making customer specified one-offs so i'm surprised it took bugatti so long

I have to say the car is an unforgettable masterpiece of automobile history, like original 57SC Atlantic.

Words cannot express the pure beauty that this car is- simply breathtaking.

Imagine - come tyre replacement time - having your local fitment centre try getting the pattern alignment of the painted sidewalls and rims right.

Look at the distance of front wheel to door, the length of wheelbase of the car is obvious longer than Chiron.LVN is more than a bodywork job, something happened on platform engineering.

In China, there are so many so called extended wheelbase cars to enlarge the rear space of compartment, but it's relative easy, the extended wheelbase all comes from the part of rear door, the other original structure is never changed.
To extend wheelbase like LVN from front wheel to front door,I think it's more difficult.it's a big operation if you want to get a proper handling car after the adjustment on platform, especially on the project of LVN which its topspeed should surpass 400km/h.

Longer wheelbase spoils slow speed handling but enhences fast speed one.

^You misunderstand what I means,so what you said is pointless. In the era of platform sharing, the distance from front wheel to front door(front axle to firewall of engine bay)is identical to all the products if they shared the same platform, such as bmw's CLAR shared by 3er,5er,7er and X3,X5,X7;Volvo's PSA shared by S60,S90 and XC60,XC90;VAG's MLB evo shared by Audi,Bentley,Lambroghini and VW.If the distance of front wheel to front wall is greatly changed,it's basically equals to develop a new platform. This's a costly work, just like Bugatti did LVN.

It's a costly work mostly for a front engine car

I once said the new Rolls Royce shared platform with Bmw, go to check the length I mentioned you can find sth.

Oh brother...

If you still think this..

Then you are deliberately being an idiot or troll.

... and if that example is supposed to demonstrate you knowledge of platform engineering then you're probably* talking shit about about the Bugatti too.

*I don't care enough about the Bugatti to research it personally.

Only idiots will believe bmw will invest hefty money on a brand new platform for a poor little company which produced cars for few wealthy people in a niche market, except its big boss is Dr. PIECH.
I said before,I will repeat it again, the platform of NEW RR and bmw is almost the same, only some minor adjustment for purpose.

First: different materials have different behaviour so the basically steel structure of the BMW platform can not be used for ASF platform. And secondly a platform is expensive, when it is adapted for mass production. When the car is produced on a stand station and not on a conveyor the producer has great freedom to do whatever he wants even make a new platform for a single car.

Just get your doctor to up the anti-psychotics and you should re-enter reality at some point.

When Chinese car maker Geely purchased Volvo from Ford ten years ago,Geely poured billions of Dollars into it to develop brand new FWD platforms for Volvo and Geely's new family car.How much money Bmw had invested on RR to develop a bespoke platform which is totally different with Bmw in order to build a so called "the best car in the world"?I think the figures should be bigger than that Geely had invested on Volvo, otherwise it couldn't match the slogan of "the best car in the world".
But in reality,we can see the key fob of new RR is directly carried over from Bmw,such little things are all shared by RR and Bmw,only idiots still believe Bmw had invested big money to develop a unique platform for RR.
I think the so called "new platform" of RR is a marketing hype.

I was asking myself if it was real coachbuilding done on the request of someone or just an uber expensive limited edition, then i read that the owner is Piech himself and thought the boundarry between the two in this case is inexistant.

Geely and key fobs?! This is like arguing with a flat earther... And not really worth derailing a Bugatti thread for.

As for the Bugatti in question, I still think the front is a little 'mansory' but actually I'm warming to the profile.

I am trying to figure out if you are a black belt entertainer or really believe what you are writing.
