"With this project, the Bugatti team has an opportunity to interpret the brand DNA in terms of agile, nimble handling in a significantly more performance-oriented way" - Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti Automobiles.

The Divo is named for a Bugatti racing driver from the brand's past. Albert Divo won the Targa Florio race in the mountains of Sicily twice in the 1920s. He drove a Bugatti Type 35.

We'll see it's debut at Pebble Beach... 40 units and €5.12 million....watch this space...

Basically it will be a reskinned Chiron similar to how the Centenario and Veneno are Aventadors with aggressive aero kits but are 4-8 times the price.

Yes, but you have to give (the usually lazy) Winkelmann props. Even offering a sports package for Bugatti is a huge departure from the brand and I know it caused a lot of discussion within the company.

Yes. It's better than the carneval of "limited editions" of the Veyron. We almost reached a point where it was more exclusive to have a individually speced Veyron than a limited edition one.

Just take 500kg out and make it 2000hp, dream specs for all Bugatti fans. Koenigsegg whatever eater!

The main issue is that the engine and transmission is so darn heavy, so it'd have to be an all-new powerplant for that kind of weight loss. Taking out the Chiron's luxury features and lighter wheels would yeild a max 250kg weight loss.

I'm still waiting on the Chiron top speed run... if it could acutally hit 450 km/h.

The Chiron has been out for 2 years now since first launch, I wonder when they will let some motoring mag performance test it and then when will VW do a top speed run or will they be too chicken as they worried their car is slower than the Agrera RS?

I think there is an unhealthy obessession with top speed and using it as a marketing tool isn't ideal. Hennessy and similar low volume rivals will then focusing of developing a new iteration of an existing car with the sole aim of beating the Chiron by 2-8mph.

Yes true, the next Hennessy is already estimated to go more than 300mph so it should "Trump" the Chiron quite easily. Maybe Bugatti realize this and have delayed or wont attempt the top speed run just so it can sell the remaining production run of cars. But the inevitable question will come up, just how fast is the Chiron?

A 250kg weight loss would be very hard. Removing the sound system, AC, sound system and electronically adjustable seats could cut 100kg at most. However if the power is upped then increased cooling, engine block reinforcement and braking could surpress the net weight loss.

What I find most amusing is that in 3-4 years there will likely be supercars that cost 1/20th of the Divo but are faster up to 200mph.

I don't beleive they would ever remove the AC from a Bugatti. The Sheikhs would not be very happy.

Since Bugatti probably won't let magazines test the Divo I guess we will never really know how fast it is on track. Even the normal Chiron haven't been instrumental tested yet.

Removing 100kg might be difficult on cars like the 488 and 720s since they are already fairly performance focused. However given the amount of luxury trimmings on the Chiron, taking 250kg out might be possible. If i remember correctly Bugatti also went as far as using a newer and stronger type of carbon fiber weave for the monocoque of the Veyron SS to save 50kg?

When there is money, there is a way. Bugatti could very well use Nasa material as long as customers are willing to pay.........which they are.

somebody should just make a streetlegal streamliner and take the record, this has a top speed of over 700kph

Bugatti Divo Reveals Taillight Graphics In Scary Teaser Video4
Jul 28, 2018 at 3:48am By: Adrian Padeanu, Editor
Leave it to Bugatti to come up with a dramatic video of a car's taillights.
After unveiling a retrolicious dual sunroof for the Chiron earlier in the week, Bugatti is back to remind us it’s planning an exciting premiere for next month’s The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering in California. Originally teased on July 10 when we found out the car won’t bear the “Chiron” moniker at all, the new Divo (named after French racing driver Albert Divo) is back to in a teaser video that has a rather sinister soundtrack.

While the attached clip isn’t what you’d call even remotely revealing, it does allow us to get an idea of the hypercar’s rear end. It’s set to feature an entirely different taillight arrangement compared to the full-width strip of the Chiron by adopting separate clusters featuring dozens of LEDs (or are those OLEDs?) that won’t be meeting in the middle. It appears the taillights are angled by moving upwards towards the top corners of the rear bumper.
The attached video posted by Bugatti on its media channels includes the hashtag #builtforcorners, which corroborated with the promise of a lightweight vehicle with great handling, means the Divo should be more agile than the “normal” Chiron / Chiron Sport. The high-end marque from Molsheim has also said its next gem is going to be “nimble and will boast enormous downforce and g-forces” while featuring a design reminiscent of the company’s coachbuilding days.

That’s all Bugatti is willing to show for the time being but expect more teasers to emerge between now and the Divo’s highly anticipated debut on August 24. As a refresher, only 40 cars are ever going to be made and each will carry an eye-watering starting price of €5 million ($5.8M at current exchange rates). It’s unclear whether these vehicles will be part of the Chiron’s 500-car production run or Bugatti will consider the Divo as a separate model.

Bugatti Divo New Teaser Hints At Extreme Aero
Jul 30, 2018 at 3:39am By: Adrian Padeanu, Editor
Latest teaser image suggests the Divo might have some things in common with the spectacular Vision Gran Turismo concept.
Never has Bugatti teased a new hypercar for so long and we are still more than three weeks away from the Divo’s world premiere in California at The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering. Following last week’s preview of the model’s rear end with a plethora of LEDs/OLEDs for the taillights, the new machine “built for corners” is making the headlines once again to show off a small section of its side profile.

The aero blade made from carbon fiber hints at the Divo’s extreme aerodynamic package and leads us to believe the car’s exterior design will have a few things in common with the dramatic Vision Gran Turismo. The latter is a one-off introduced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and since then sold to a wealthy individual likely willing to fork out $93,000 for a set of spare tires and $20,000 to get it serviced.
Back to the car at hand, the Divo will be a special-edition hypercar limited strictly to 40 examples at $5.8 million a pop. No word just yet about whether it’s based on the Chiron or if this is, in fact, an entirely different model. With Bugatti being part of the Volkswagen Group, it has access to the very best Audi, Bentley, and Lamborghini have to offer, so we won’t be too surprised if the Divo will be more than just a Chiron with a different body.

So far it’s looking very promising as Bugatti has promised the “new, strong design language” will harken back to the golden era of coachbuilding for a car with which the company wants to “thrill people throughout the world.” The press release from earlier this month also said something about the Divo being agile and providing nimble handling “in a significantly more performance-oriented way,” which likely means it'll be more track friendly than the Chiron and its slightly lighter Chiron Sport counterpart.

All will be revealed on August 24, but expect more teasers in the meantime.
