X5 M / X6 M BMW X6 M Sport Package to get engine upgrades

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.
Is RS6+ on the cards for the current generation Just_me? I know that they did this with the previous generation but wasn't expecting it for this one.

I don't know what happens with the new generation but over at RS6.com many seem to think its coming.

Hmmm, very interesting. I'd be amazed if they did such a thing. More than 426 kW? That would be rather frivolous in times like these imo.

There are always those that are ready to pay. Besides, who does not want to appear to be untouched by an economic crisis? Grand designs have always emerged in hard times. They make people forgett about the state of the real world.

^ For sure. The 35d now has 306 hp. 100% all 35i models will get standard 326 hp, a bit more than the diesel counterpart. And all models with the 50i engine will get 450 hp.

Also, Eni, didn't the car get the new iDrive screen too, like 7er?

Not all the models...the standard ones will still have the same engine specs. The engine performance upgrades is exclusive to the M-sport package.

As for the new iDrive, both X5 and X6 models will be receiving the new iDrive controller and the Drive logic including the hard drive and USB port.

No comments on the absurd X6 ActiveHybrid price? :D

But more interesting is the posted German price for the X6 Active Hybrid: €102,900

Compared to X6M: €108,500
and X6 xDrive50i: €76,100

Yes, all X5 & X6 are getting new iDrive system in the Fall.

Hybrid systems are expensive and new. I was only surprized it did not debut in an even more expensive vehicle that only corporations would buy.

So 550i M sport will have 450 hp? Standard version 407 hp...sounds good. Extra power to back up the agressive looks. Not just looks and a stiffer suspension, I like!

Very nice upgrades,i love the looks of the 50i much more than the rather "weak" looking exhausts, rims and bumpers on the M version, and this new upgrade is perfect.:usa7uh::D

The X6M should have been called X6 xDrive60i (maybe with the 544bhp V12) and only been offered with an M Sport package (like the 135i) and sold for about 95,000. Instead BMW chose to plunder the M division.

People said the M3 should have been called 340i because of the soft approach. Now people know that there will not come anything better from BMW and have duly adjusted. Sad.

So, beside power upgrade in the Power-pack, there are some other exterior & interior features specific to this package:

... dark sporty interior, and contrasting exterior styling features ...

:eusa_doh:

So no power upgrade for regular X6 or LCI X5? huh
I was thinking of getting X6 but the price for M-sport is scary. :eusa_doh:

I hope every model gets the M Power Pack in the future. F10 550i with M Power Pack sounds brilliant.

I got very excited when I read the story, but when I found out that it's only offered in two exterior colors and only one interior choice (Black)...now that's really disappointing. Why limit customers choices to only few color options?! Porsche, for example, gives you the choice to choose minor details such as your seatbelt color on their entry models, and here for such premium vehicle only limited!!
For the X5, they had the M package with good choice of interior and exterior colors, but no extra power. Now they've added the power and taken off color options... :t-hands:
If you really need to compete in the current tough economic environment, you need to be more aggressive with the competitors and offer attractive packages, not just limit customer's choices...
To be honest, I think this is really stupid marketing move from BMW. :thumbdwn:

The German pricelist (September 09) for the X6 was just published . You can download it here :

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pressclub/p/de/download.html?textId=42527&textAttachmentId=60032

It also includes the prices for the M-Performance package :
8000 Eur for the 3.5i
7000 Eur for the 5.0i
After subtracting the included extras (Sport Seats , Alcantara/Leather combo, black headliner, 214 style wheels, shadow-line...) , the net cost for the power upgrade is around 1500 EUR.

:t-cheers:

The Rear-view camera now includes 'Top View' , with 2 additional cameras in the side mirrors . I hope this upgrade also improves the often critizised bad quality of the rear view camera.

Not a better choice, but for less money a great improvement no doubt.

and here is the price, cheap or expensive?

"Got this on bimmerfile:

There's going to be a new option package for 2010 X6 models called the "Performance Upgrade" (option code: 7RR). It needs, but is not required, to be combined with the ZSP sports package.

Costs: $1500

Power Boost on X6 50i = +40hp / +30lb-ft torque
Performance for X6 50i = 5.1 seconds

Power Boost on X6 35i = +20hp / +30lb-ft torque
Performance for X6 35i = 6.3 seconds"

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
