X3/X4 BMW X4 is coming...

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.

I think we have a match on the Launch Color....stay tuned....Thanks. PalBay

Melbourne Red. They now do multiple colors to reflect the individual model lines of one model sometimes in different locations.
As in the BMW 2er shot in Spain and Los Angeles and surrounding desert respectively.

It is virtually indentical to the X6 except for the sheer size.

Indeed. I'm a big fan of the X6 and can see the X4 falling to my liking. The only flaw it might have is X3 headlights which are not athletic and sexy enough for a coupe. Driving-wise it should impress. Most people will be baffled by the agility and sheer pace of the X6 - it's like an angry rhino and I can image that experience being even more intoxicating in the more compact X4.

Yeah, the lights could be a make or break it factor. It looks svelte in these autoevolution pics though. I'm holding out hope.

BMW X4 confirmed for March 14 debut at Geneva Motor Show

M version unlikely

A BMW representative told Inautonews the X4 will be showcased on March 14 at the 84th Geneva International Motor Show.
The announcement was made by the company's spokesperson Christophe Koenig who said the car will be presented during the first half of 2014, with more details to be disclosed on March 14. In other words, the X4 will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show and will probably go on sale several months later.
The 2014 BMW X4 has been spied numerous times by our photographers and will be a follow-up to the X4 concept. The design will closely mimic the X6 but on a smaller scale and with a trunk capacity expected to suffer a ten percent decrease compared to the X3. Inautonews says the crossover will have the same overall length and wheelbase as the X3, but it will be 34mm wider and 53mm lower.
It will be offered with standard rear-wheel drive and optional xDrive, while engine lineup will be taken from the X3. Examples of motors include a gasoline 240 bhp (179 kW) 2.0-liter, a 181 bhp (135 kW) diesel and a more powerful inline-six 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo with 330 bhp (224 kW). Since the X3 hasn't received so far an M version, it's unlikely there will ever be an X4 M.

I´m thinking that we could see official pics about november/december, because as far as I know at the last models official pics were presented always about four month before introduction respectively presentation at an auto show.
I want to try to prove it with dates of other presentations.

Its the X4 with M Sport packet. They are filming and photographing all lines of the X4. As you can gather the product keeps on coming.

Amazing that people can not disdinguish X4 and X6..perpaps that means the turth that BMWs are too similar nowadays.

They both have the same basic shape - since they are both SACs. Just like eg. two sedans have the same basic shape.

The detailing is quite different but it really can not be seen in those low-res pics. The broken shoulder line has now become a BMW SAC design detail trademark.

How WE know it's X4? Because we know X4 media shooting is going on, while first X6 media shooting is planned for 2014. Also the front (hood, headlights etc) clearly portrays X4 - anybody who had seen the X4 Concept would noticed that.

Compare the X4 from the pics to X6 spy photos - and you'll notice the fascia is completely different. The hood has different lines, the headlights have different lines etc.

But sure ... from distance it will be harder to distinguish X4 from X6 - especially from side view. That said ... X6 will still be the one with more presence & more elegant styling.

Regarding strong family resemblance ... Yes, it's a trend. Also in automotive industry (BMW was there and going back there, Audi is there already ... Porsche too, MB is going there ... so is eg VW, Lexus etc). Apple, Samsung etc influence is enormous: same design in different sizes with slightly different details. It strengthens the brand image & it's cost effective. Win-win.

All of these photo's were taken from the same spot, same distance, same lens...They are as close to a Side By Side Comparo as you can get today...short of the X4 and 2nd Gen X6 being physically parked next to each other.....I love both cars...but you can not mistake after seeing this comparo....BMW went to the same Design School for the the X4 and 2nd Gen X6....From certain angles it is very hard to tell the two apart...especially with camo still on the cars. Thanks. PalBay

Spyshooter Pop Quiz...Can you correctly identify which Spyshot is the all new F26 X4 and which photo is the F25 X3 LCI/Facelift?? Harder than it looks.....Both vehicles are M Sport models.....You heard it here first...The X4 and the X3 will have differently designed Kidney Grills...........Stay tuned....Thanks. PalBay

I wish the top one was the X4, but I suspect it's the X3. Looking at old renderings I realize the "dropping tear-duct" of the old headlights added a nice tapering effect to the nose that I've missed in the revealed X4 concept.
